Coal and wood burning stoves had been the alternative, but they burned dirty and required lots of labor and then attention while cooking. The Florence Stove pictured here burned kerosene. The water heater pictured in the kitchen next to the kitchen sink of the artwork is also fueled by kerosene. The finial is a bit over 3 7/8" tall from base to center top tip. 2 5/8" wide at the Florence lettering, and a variable(thinner at the top) 1/4" thick. The base of the finial is a rough 1/2" in both directions and does not have a hole for mounting. A magnet does not stick and we are not sure of the material it is made of. We found no breaks or missing pieces, but the part does have oxidation/discoloration as shown in the photos. A great old stove finial! This makes you realize how much nicer life is now than it was then! This is a stove that was for your sad iron or to put one pot on to cook with. It is in pretty good condition. Though not the best. It is missing the plug where the oil goes in. The paint is chipped some and definitely shows wear. The last patent date on the back is June 8,1886. The piece is a wonderful bit of history and would display beautifully. There is still a wick in it, so I am sure that you could use a cork in place of the stopper and still use the stove. Item Description Hot Blast Florence Parlor Stove Estate Find Condition– Used– Buying as is Very nice Antique Parlor Stove. The name on the back is C Emrich and it has two dates on it. The patented date is 1899. Another piece is dated April 10. 1917. I am guessing it was the date it was made. I picked this up at an estate auction recently. It is truly a piece of American Art. It is roughly 68 inches tall and if I had to guess. I would say it weighs at least 175-200 pounds, but that is just an estimation. I plan on doing one of two things with it. 1. Sell it as a whole. 2. Refurbish it and then sell it as a whole. If you want it while the price is cheap. Please buy it now. If I pay to get it updated the price is going up. I don’t know a lot about stoves. Restoration included exterior surfaces and replating of the nickel accents and all black exterior portions painted with Hi-Temp stove paint. The interior was cleaned and has all inside pieces. This model would heat a 2000-3000 square feet open area and is able to be vented with a common stovepipe. Storage since the restoration has resulted in minor wear and rust on some of the nickel-plated pieces and the stove itself. The cast iron stove has all the pieces and is in overall great condition. The glass on the oven door is replaced with plexiglass or plastic. This is an original restored antique. Not a replica. Though it states on the name plate that this stove is“air tight” this ... moreis a reflection of the era and not true about this model. This stove is not“air tight” however, functions as a stove. The seams are tight, but not“air tight” Made at the height of cast iron technology, this stove displays finest examples of casting. There is lavish and intricate design on the nickel accents.
