Antique Vintage Black Cast Iron ad iron Tailor's Flat Iron Circa 1910 If you hate to iron. Imagine how your ancestors from the early 1900's must have felt. This is one heavy iron! Women(and male tailors) used sad irons to press their families' or customer's' clothes. Sad irons got their name because sad means"heavy" They are very appropriately named. Although these irons were small, they were quite heavy. Sad irons were heated near an open fire or on the stove and their handles became red hot. Women tried wrapping aprons or towels around the handles, but still burned their fingers. The thought of ironing under these conditions is enough to make anyone"sad" This iron is a#6 iron. The face plate was left intact and shows natural patina. However. The top of the iron was repainted and used as a doorstop, ... morethen later a paperweight. It looks like the paint can be removed if the winning bidder wished to attempt to restore it to its natural condition. However, painted it does not look bad, in our opinion. It would make a lovely addition to your antique and vintage primitive collection. As the heat from the cook stove rises it hits the fins on the bottom of the heater and this circulates the heat to the surface of the sad iron heater top. An antique parlor heat stove by PENINSULAR STOVE CO of Detroit. Chicago and Buffalo, model 211. This stove is in need of restoration or for parts. This is a pretty stove with both Victorian and Art Nouveau design elements. As it stands it is 40" tall to the top of the brass finial and measures 16 1/2" across and 14" 1/4 deep at the bottom. Across the front of the bottom it is cast WORLD'S LEADER, and a large initial"K" is cast underneath the opening for the flue. The stove is missing the base. It would have been 14 1/4 X 16 1/2. The mica or isinglass panes in the door and on both sides of the stove show some damage and loss. There is a little loss to the iron at the top of the left and right sides where the cap sits on it. The domed cap is cracked, the round plate on top is cracked in two. we have one of the foot ... morewarmer rest, missing the other. There are 2 pieces of a teracotta type material in the bottom and another is like stovepipe the bottom has some breaking through places.The brass finial sits a little cocked.and most likely is missing its scroles. Great lot here. I have no idea how old they are or what they fit. Maybe a how comfort but in no way do I guarantee that.SOme of them have several chips around the rim. They have a lot of tarnishing surface rust and some pitting. the spacer that goes in between two eyes is a little bowed and has a crack. They need a good cleaning. The larger eyes measure approx 7 15/16 and the one with holes and writing measures 6 3/4. Even with the condition these are hard to find and im starting them at a very reasonable price. A group of three antique cast iron stove parts. I am unsure of the exact function of each. They could be lid lifters. Grate shakers, or something else, but they are all stove related. The first piece measures about 8-1/4" long and is marked"140" on the top of the handle. There are some casting marks on the underside of the handle as well. But they are difficult to read. The second piece m easures about 8" long. Has a casting mark on the underside of"B63" and is nickel plated. The third piece m easures about 11-1/2" long and has no casting marks or other identifiers. And is also nickel plated. The parts are used. But in good condition. The plated items do show some plating wear and minor rusting. The pictures show the condition of the items. This is a nice old group of 4 cast iron wood or coal burner grates. They are 3 3/4" tall. The back is 2" wide, front is 1 1/2" wide at the top and about 1 1/4" wide at the bottom. Several of these form a circle in the burner area, they are in great shape, no chips or cracks. This looks good. Items as pictured. I have other vintage items. Antique or vintage cast iron with enamel front plate Radio stove door Harwick ??
Up for bid is an antique or vintage cast iron with a white enamel plated front plate stove door. It is marked Radio. In my research. The only Radio stove I could find was made bt Harwick. It looks like the door was chrome plated. Most of the chrome plating is gone, just a little left on some of the edges. The latch is broke/missing. There are spots, stains and a chip in the enamel finish on the front plate. I pack my postcards between 2 pieces of cardboard. Then in an envelope with a tracking number, which results in a higher price than just sticking it in an envelope. This item/items as most of the things I sell. Made from cast iron, has a 3 1/2" crack in lower left bend as shown in pictures. Support measures 17 1/2" tall. 27 3/4" across bottom and 24 1/2" across top. When laid flat, center bottom sits 6" up, center top side sits 5" up. We don't know the age of this or the model it came from. May even be unused. Antique Cast Iron & Copper Windsor No.25 Stove Top Water Heater
This bid is for a great antique Windsor No.25 stove top water heater. Made of cast iron with a copper coil inside. This was made to sit on top of a wood stove or other heat source to heat the water that would be in the tank usually close by. As the heat would rise it would heat the water in the coil and make it circulate though the tank. There is one small chip on the back side of the cap rim.
