This Cast Iron Lid Lift Handle measures approximately 8" long and is marked on the underneath side VLS-108 with embossed lettering. It has been used and has some minor wear along with some rust but has no chips. Cracks or unusual wear. It could use a good cleaning and be seasoned prior to using. This double-ended tool would have been as important as today's remote controls-and woe to anyone who misplaced it! This lid lifter has the number 9 impressed in one end-no other markings. The lifter is 8.5 inches long. The lifter end tapers to 1/2 inch and the larger end is 1 inch wide. Some very slight surface rust and some spots of white paint. No cracks in the iron. VTG CAST IRON 8-1/2" COOK STOVE EYE / LID LIFTER ~ ANTIQUE WOOD COAL WRENCH TOOL
Offered is a cast iron stove eye lifter and shaker wrench tool. These were used to lift the eyes. Or lids on old cook and heating stoves. This piece is unmarked beyond"446, so I am unable to connect it with a particular maker or era. It is obviously an older piece. It's a particularly robustly made piece with a smallish lifting lug. The lifter is about 8-1/2 inches long and weighs about 11 ounces. I can't find the slightest damage beyond light use marks and some surface roughness. Likely from the original casting. It has a smaller half-moon shaped lifting lug, measuring about 1/2 by 1/8 inch. These can sometimes be ground a bit to fit a particular eye. It has one of those odd shaker wrench tools opposite the lifting lug, and there is a bit of casting sprue remaining in it. This part of the tool may also be for adjusting interior ... morevents, particularly in cookstove ovens. I've posted lots of pictures so you can look it over.
