However kerosene and diesel were noted to have been used in an emergency. Number on burner is 264. It is my understand that is the month and year it was made. The burner is regulated by a single operating knob that allows the desired amount of flow from the tank and is then turned tight to shut the gravity flow off when finished cooking. A great vintage brass collectable to add to any stove collection. The stove measures 14" overall in length 7" in width and 6" high at the tank. This is a cast iron little stove that measurers 2 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" wide(6 1/2" wide with handle) Alcohol burner/pot measures aprx 3" wide, with seven holes, this burner appears to be brass. Overall condition is actual very good with minor surface rust. This should polish up nicely. All moving parts work freely. To operate the stove pour some metholated alcohol into the brass burner with seven air holes. light the open burner. then decide how powerful you need the flames by putting on the damper and adjusting the pivoting lids. or leave the damper off for the most intense burn. Manufactured in Germany. This antique Gustav Barthel Alcohol Burner has a unique"Scorpion" shape and amazing European charm. The heavy cast iron body supports a brass globe tank, a copper burner, and hard wood handle. Measuring 9 1/2" at its highest point, it has a length of 15" and a width of 7" The top of this Alcohol Burner bears the maker's"crossed swords" logo and the name G. Barthel in embossed lettering. Vintage Universal No. 0 Alcohol Stove with Cast Iron Cooking Plate
The stove is marked: Universal No. 0 Alcohol Stove. Frary& Clark, New Britain, Conn. Patented Sept. 8, 1908. The tank is marked on the bottom: Landers. Frary& Clark" It is very old and in fair condition(see all pics) It is 5.5" tall and the base is 6" diameter. I have no idea how to test it. But I would think that it would work. Some normal wear rust spotting discolor from age.

No visible cracks or damage, knob turns easily to loosen and tighten what ever it regulates. I don't want to test it for many reasons. Mostly because I don't know what kind of fuel it uses, I don't know how to use it and residue in the tank will make it impossible to ship as it will be flammable and will smell. The tank has no odor what so ever now and appears bone dry inside. No residue in the tank suggests to me it had to be alcohol to have evaporated so cleanly. But I am only guessing. Rare Antique 1906 JH Bengalia Alcohol Stove Jacob Hirschhorn Steel Brass Burner
I have up for auction an alcohol stove made by Jacob Hirschhorn. The knob is marked J.H. Bengalia with a picture of a stag. If my research is correct. This alcohol stove dates to 1906. The website said it is"very rare" If it is rare or not, I do not know. The stand, grate, and font are made out of steel. I believe the burner to be brass. It has a removable top grate. The stove measures 6 1/2" high to the top of the stand. The font measures about 5 3/4" in diameter at the widest point. It has plenty of wear and some rust, please see all pictures. It weighs two pounds.

The top is marked Glogau& Co. Chicago U.S.A. This small stove was made during the early 20th century by Glogau& Co. A magnet does not stick to the font which I believe to be brass. The brackets are metal. It is a small lightweight alcohol burner. The wick is on a rotating piece. The wick is lit and rotated under the burner. Missing cap for the end- It measures 4 1/4" high to the top of the bracket and 3 7/8" in diameter across the bottom without the brackets. It has some wear. Some rust, some small dings.

Louis Prince LP-238 Alcohol Stove The auction is for a gravity fed alcohol burner/ stove. It is a Louis Prince LP-238 24 hours always with you. It is new in the box. But the boxed has tape, shipping labels and is generally worn. I assume it is Japanese. If you know the characters as something else, please correct me. Based on the markings, I assume the stove is mostly 304 stainless steel and brass. The knob may be bakelite. It shows signs of having been machined and not injection molded. The stove weighs just over 1.5 pounds empty. It is roughly 14" x 7" x 7.5" tall. The fuel reservour is stainless, brass and has an aluminum cap. I purchased this over 11 years ago from someone who had it stored away. He never used it. I never used it. I did a search and could only find two references. One reference is a picture on a Japanese ... morewebsite. Which is why I am assuming it is Japanese. The other is an eBay auction(270896229317) that ended Jan 23, 2012, 1:52PM. The final price was $102.50. I am selling it as a collector's item. Because that is what I assume it is. Unique old piece selling as found from an estate sale! made aprox. 1913 is nickel plated brass and has a finger handle! Needs to be cleaned and believe with some metal polish to clean the nickel it should shine right up. All the directions are on the box. This is a landers features and Clark Universal alcohol stove. It has 3 dents in burner which I have pictured. Most of the ones I have seen have patent pending after 1908 but this one says 1910 after the 1908. It is in great shape
