It does have a couple of issues. The biggest is that it is cracked. See the pictures 6 and 7 for details) The second is that at some point the wooden base had come loose and it was glued back in place. The repair is well done. But I feel it should be mentioned. The coaster is 6.5 inches in diameter at the top, and 5 inches in diameter across the base. it is 1.75 inches tall. Even with the crack, this old coaster is beautiful and it will be a nice addition to any collection. It is also still quite usable. Wm HUTTON & SONS VICTORIAN SILVERPLATE AND WOOD WINE BOTTLE COASTER HALLMARKED
This is one of a pair of vintage wine coasters from the estate of an English gentleman who was living in Florence. Oregon. The reason I am selling them separately is that the pair are matched EXCEPT this one has the Wm. Hutton& Sons hallmark(8 crossed arrows) and a small x for the date but the other does not. I've been told that selling them separate is the correct way to do this. This is a silverplate and wood wine/champagne bottle coasters. The coaster measures approximately 7" in diameter by 2" tall. Overall condition is good. Some wear and fading to the wood medallion and tarnish to the silverplate with some wear on the silverplate showing copper where the bottle goes in. Some wear to the felt bottom. Around the edge of the decoration is a thin line of copper wire which is how the earliest silver plate was done- it is ... morealmost a hallmark itself. But this wine coaster has the hallmark shown in the picture and noted above. There is no mark indicating if it is silver, silver plate, silver on copper, or other but the copper wire line and tarnish lead me to believe it is silver plate on copper. 2 Beautiful c.1850 English Silverplate Wine Coasters. Floral Rim& Wood Base Presented are two beautiful c.1850 English silverplate wine coasters. These fabulous wine coasters have fluted sides and a lovely applied rim with floral and swirl decor. The base of the coaster is nicely turned wood. The underside has a green felt. These coasters are English. They are old Sheffield silverplate on copper. These coasters date circa 1850. These coasters are in good condition. The silverplate does have minor wear. Though this is hard to see with the highly reflective surface. Please refer to photograph#6) The underside of the rim on one coaster has a few minor nicks. Up for offer is a vintage silverplate and wooden wine bottle coaster in wonderful condition- no damage. I am uncertain of the maker- the side is marked AP(I believe) ENGLAND. The silverplate carries a light. Lovely patina which will be left for the collector to either shine up or to leave and enjoy its original vintage integrity. The base of the coaster is wood and the bottom has green velvet felt backing. It measures approx 5.75 across top diameter x 1.75" tall x 4" across bottom diameter. Vintage/Antique Decorated Silver Plate& Wood Wine Bottle Coaster Hallmarked Up for bids is this lovely silverplate wine bottle coaster measuring 7.25" in diameter and 2.25" tall. It is a heavy gauge silverplate with a crisp highly decorated rim featuring grape& vine motif. The bottom is wood(walnut or teak I believe) with a center medallion featuring an engraved stylized lion. I believe the coaster may be of English or Scandinavian origin.
