It is estimated to have been made around the 1780-1800 period. The piece. Typical of Old Sheffield Plate, has a really deep gleam factor so please excuse the reflections, they proved inescapable. It is in very good condition for a piece of this age with just a few small spots to the well. And again to the reverse. There is a bleed line to the resting edge to the underside and a very fine intermittent line to the rim edge, otherwise superb. Possibly footed at one time? Displays beautifully. A scarce. Antique, late 19th or early 20th century trolley coaster. This example is either late Victorian or Edwardian in period and would have been a very fashionable item in its day. These coaster trolleys were made for carrying either decanters or wine bottles and the guests could amuse themselves by wheeling the trolley around the dinner table. These pieces are now very hard to find and are much sought after as they are a great talking point and also very showy making them hard for your guests to miss. This example is in the form of traditional carts with spoked wheels and there is an extended handle for pulling the trolley around the table. The handle and front bogey are articulated for steering. The two coasters are joined with a fancy decorative section produced in the form of grapes and leaves. The rims of the coasters are gadrooned ... morein the traditional(Georgian) style. The interiors of the coasters are set with turned hardwood pieces with silver plated central bosses. The trolley and fittings are silver plated. There are no makers marks which is not unusual for these items. There are some lightly scratched numbers to the underside of the lead coaster but we can't quite make them out, they are perhaps part numbers or design references. Vintage FB Rogers Silver Silverplate Wine Bottle Decanter Trolley Coaster Server
This fun vintage trolley or pull cart style wine bottle coaster makes a great conversation piece and could be used for butter. Jam or condiments too. This is silver-plate and marked F.B. Rogers, there is dark tarnish but surface feels smooth with no rough pitting and looks to be in nice condition. This has two wheels and a handle, the wheels are just over 2" across and the top is 4 1/2" rim to rim with a 3 3/8" opening. A Victorian silver plated/britannia metal champagne/decanter bottle holder. Good solid weight and really well detailed. Ornate embossed grapevines to top and bottom and different beautifully pierced decoration all round. Swags and roundels to the middle section. Good size at 15.5cms height. Diameter of top 12cms. Date: C1840-1899 Marks: None. Probably Sheffield. Condition; A genuine antique which has been lovingly over polished for many years hence there is wear to the plating and it does not shine brightly. But there is no damage and it is entirely appropriate to continue to be used for many more years. The detail and variation of the decoration is amazing. A lovely piece but do be aware of the wear. Circular in form with curved sides and a flattened edge, heavily cast with an ornate border of gadrooning interspersed by scallop shells. Acorns and oak leaves, in the Rococo manner. The base is inset with turned hardwood, with a silver vacant cartouche to the centre, suitable for engraving a crest or initials. This is unmarked. It would make an excellent addition to a collection of wine related objects. The decanter coaster measures 16.6 cm in width and 4.7 cm in height. It weighs 297 grams. The condition is generally excellent. Without damage or repair, the surface of the silver is in excellent order, with only light wear, showing copper beneath. Offered for sale with no reserve! We have on offer here an antique late Georgian Old Sheffield plate(fused plate) decanter stand or wine bottle coaster. It will easily take Champagne Bottle or a Magnum( two wine bottles) at 4" diameter and probably a Jeraboam(4 wine bottles) at 5 inches diameter. It will be a close fit but should just slide in. The decanter stand has a gadrooned base to the body which has a hard soldered seam which is neatly disguised by forming part of one of the gadrooned ridges. There is an applied beaded rim to the top edge. There is a central decorative"button" that sometimes are engraved with crests. This ... moreone is not. The wooden base is well worn from use. It looks to have the original baize is on the bottom. The decanter coaster stands approximately 2 inches high at the highest point and is 5 7/8 inches diameter at the rim. The coaster is made of copper which has been silver plated this is wearing through but nothing that spoils it's antique value. Round with fancy pierced sides and good roped top edge having a turned wooden base which has a felt bottom to protect polished surfaces. In good antique condition no damage as far as I can see but I mentioned some plate wear. Please remember that this item is perhaps over 100 years old and is not new.
