The sides of the coaster are high and have a wavy edge. Done in a beautiful open latticework style. The silver plating is thick and well done. The center of the coaster is a light, mellow colored wood. A great quality antique English piece, entirely useable for its original purpose or just as a small basket, whatever you like. This piece is hallmarked on the side of the base with the maker's mark for Elkington& Co. And Elkington's date mark for 1848. This outstanding large. Fine, and heavy serving tureen dates from the late 1890's. It has beautiful flowing scroll handles and a beautiful flowing scroll lid handle that can also be detached. This large tureen is in very good condition for its age. The heavy silver plating is virtually completely intact. Apart from some wear on the inside. The base of the tureen is stamped E& CO in a shield above the name ELIKNGTON& CO. PREMIER HOTEL. The size of this outstanding tureen is 33 cm in length. 21 cm in height and 19 cm in width. SUPERB 19thC ELKINGTON SILVER PLATED DISH, DECORATED WITH CHERUBS, PAN & GOATS
A stunning neo classical antique silver plated dish/ centrepiece made by Elkington& Co. It is fully stamped on the base with the date letter N for 1874. The dish is ornately decorated. In the centre it has Pan playing his pipes to three cherubs which are dancing to his music, at each end it has a scrolling shell shaped handle with a goats head below and on each side it has neo classical maidens heads and entwined foliage. It measures 13 1/2" long x 7" deep x 3 1/2" tall to the top of the handle. There is a slight lifting to the top part at the end. See photo and there is some wear to the plate with the copper through in places( see photo) otherwise it is all in very good antique condition.
