Old silver plated wine bottle coaster with repousse grape vine motif & wood base
Up for sale is an old silver plated wine bottle coaster with a raised relief. Or repousse design featuring grape vines. The piece has a removable wooden base, held in by pins, as shown in pic 8, making it easier to clean. It has been made out of one piece of flat metal and joined with a seam. Overall the coaster is in fair condition with some wear showing, particularly on the inside, and the plain metal bottom rim. The plating on the outside looks intact, but could use a detailed cleaning if you prefer more shine. There are some cracks and scratches on the bottom rim, and the wood appears to have had felt glued to the underside at one point, as there is residual glue inside, and the wood has been revarnished. I added new furniture protectors, but they can easily be removed. I could not find a maker’s mark on this coaster, but it came from ... morea family member who lived in the UK. Vintage Silver Plated & Inlaid Wood Champagne Bottle Coaster – 5.2” diameter
Vintage Silver Plated Champagne Bottle Coaster This bottle coaster has pierced. Silver plated sides and the wooden base has a beautiful inlaid pattern. As can been seen from the photo, it holds a standard-sized bottle of champagne and would probably hold a Magnum bottle too– unfortunately, the bottle of Champagne isn’t included with this coaster. There are no marks from which to determine its age or maker but, from its style, it probably dates to the first half of the 20 th century. Although there is no noticeable damage to this item. Age and use have left their mark. As you can see from the photos below, the plating has a good deal of pitting/marking. The wooden base is in good condition with no missing inlay although there is some very light wear to the surface of some of the varnish. Antique Victorian Silver Plated & Wood Wine Champagne / Bottle Coaster LARGE
Up for auction is an Antique Victorian American Silverplated& Wood Champagne/ Wine/ Bottle Coaster. This American made coaster was made during the Victorian Era and features ornate pierced swirled and floral designs. It features a carved wood base. It measures 7 1/2" in diameter and 2 1/4" tall. It is in good vintage condition with normal plate wear and minor dings from age and use. The wood base is missing a screw on one side and has a small crack on the bottom side. Pair Antique Silver Plated & Hard Wood Bottle/Decanter Coasters in Magnum Size
9047 Magnum Sized Decanter Coasters Description A pair of mid 19th century Victorian period bottle coasters. They are silver plated over copper and have vine and grape detail around the rims. The bodies have floral designs with leaves and a ribbed band above. They are set with hardwood bases and have green felt to the undersides. The only mark found is an impressed cross key stamp typically used by Sheffield makers. But there are no identifying initials etc. These coasters are of larger than usual size. And should generally fit magnum sized bottles and larger decanters. The opening is 13cm, and base plate width is 12cm- please check these dimensions are suitable for your bottles/decanters if required to fit specific pieces. Condition Generally good for period. Some copper is showing through the plating. Mostly at the high points which is ... moreas you would expect for normal use and cleaning.
