Stands on tripod legs which finish in a leaf shape lid has ferns and leaves engraved a truly beautiful item with only small signs of wear just a little tarnishing dimensions diameter 17cm. Height 15.5cm weighs 800g unpacked has impressed EPNS and FWS in a shield which is the stamp for Frederick Wilson of Sheffield from 1883 onwards in very good condition no chips cracks or restoration. The dish has an ornate fluted rim, the base is marked as per sixth photo, apart from a few minor blemishes which do not detract from this otherwise unusual item, it is in a good condition after some 165 years in use so in our opinion, and opinion is subjective, there are no major issues, other than aforementioned, as there are no dents or repairs, just normal surface scratches dings dimples and blemishes commensurate with age and use, but please look at photos to make up your own mind: overall height: 4½"11.4cms diameter: 7"17.7cms We give this description to the best of our ability. I was invited, with others, to tender for the job of clearing a bungalow and adjacent outbuildings prior to their sale, I viewed the premises, submitted my offer and promptly forgot about it. As I remember, the job was a dual application where the bungalow and the buildings had to be valued and priced separately. Some very stringent specifications were imposed as to when the work could commence, vehicular and pedestrian access and a whole rainbow of minor regulations. However, my tender ticked all the right boxes for just one part of the job. This was to empty and remove the contents of the outbuildings. Frankly, I was overjoyed at this news as it was closer to the main road, had easier access and was far less labour intensive and of course as ... moreeveryone knows, stuff dumped in sheds and garages is invariably'out of favour and no longer required' To verify this last statement the buildings did contain a lot of'junk' but also some very collectable and saleable goods even though some of them were seriously outmoded. Many toys and models in varying states of repair were recovered. Some were construction jobs as in Meccano, others as yet un-made, were in the form of ships and boats. Some toys were boxed and almost new. Others, as in the case of the model aircraft, had all been built many years ago and well flown. Musical instruments of various types were recovered. These, according to an executive who was present at the time, had all been used and passed down the family over the years. Suffice it to say, a lot of useful items were recovered, some as old as Adam himself and others in between! My intention was to offer them in time for Christmas but due to pressure of business it would appear that I have left it a tad late. VINTAGE ART DECO SILVER PLATED 3 PART MUFFIN DISH c1920 A vintage Art Deco silver plated three part muffin dish with linear decoration and estimated to have been made in or around the 1920 period. The lid is domed and furnished with an ebonised detachable fruitwood knop. It is in good condition for its age but there are a few issues. There is some spotting to the silver cover and some utensil wear to the inner tray(obviously using the cooling/heating facility depending on the temperature of the water the piece was used as a butter dish at some point) There is a small shallow and fairly unobtrusive dimple to the domed lid.
