Silver Plated Bon-bon Dish, American, stamped Miller & Co.Quadruple Plate. SIM.
Bon-bon Dish on circular foot. Understamped Miller& Co, quadruple plate SIM. This American dish is probably made from US equivalent of Britannia Metal and was originally silver plated. Over the years much of this has worn off exposing the underlying metal which has developed a polished grey patina. The dish has scolloped edges and a cast-in pattern of flowers. Petals, shields and a bird. It also has an ornate lifting handle. Overall size 17cm diameter x 11cm high. It is undamaged but on one side there is a small piece of welding which may have held a support for a spoon or fork. Postage&packing UK £3.50. EU £7.50. Rest of the world £12.00.

SUPERB ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY MAPPIN & WEBB SILVER PLATED BON BON DISH
Here we have an excellent example of a 19th century. Antique silver plated bon bon dish by renowned makers Mappin and Webb, fully stamped to the base, with no damage whatsoever and any wear/ scratching, is absolutely minimal. The piece has been professionally and sympathetically cleaned by my Mother, a retired Antique Restorer and Jeweller. Having handled and sold numerous antique and vintage silver plated items I can truly say this is one of the best examples I have ever had the pleasure to own. Please do view the accompanying pictures. Other than being stamped Mappin& Webb to the base. It is also stamped W27642 and R.238. From what I have been able to ascertain these marks relate to 1884/ 1885. Also, it is not stamped"England" or"Made In England" In 1892 the USA changed import laws so almost all items from around ... morethe globe had to have the country of origin stamped to the base. This definitely included all metalware, including silver and silver plated items. Towards the end of World War II the US insisted in the country of origin had to have"Made In" stamped prior to the country. This always had to be in English. As such, I can confirm that this piece is definitely from the 1880's and it is from one of England's most respected producers. This intricately pierced piece measures 11.2 cms across the top rim in diameter and stands about 4.4 cms tall. It weighs in at 73 grammes prior to packaging. A fantastic example of Victorian silver plated craftsmanship by one of the top firms. Both decorative and displayable! Feel free to ask any questions. As per all of my items. Hello there and welcome to my auction for a lovely conditon. EPNS, electro plated nickel silver embossed dish/plate, decorated with a number of highly detailed public house scenes. From my research. I'm reasonably sure the maker is from the Squirrel works, S J Levis and Co Birminghm, they operated between 1900 and 1935. please note, when I say reasonably sure, it doesn't mean I am sure, its up to you to decide from the detailed picture of the makers mark in the pictures for yourself. I've given the dish a light clean with goddards fluid to bring out the detail. As you can see its very fine with a number of scenes around the edge in addition to the central design. Thats about it. Weight with liner approx. 438g. In very nice condition with little signs of wear. Very slight wear around the base) Glass liner in lovely condition- no chips.
