When the Rogers brothers of Hartford. Conneticut got wind of it they made an arrangement: For as long as the quality was high they didn't mind. But they insisted that Wm.A. Regis Antique Vtg Silverplate Covered Serving Dish Vegie Intitialed C Handles
This covered silver plate dish came from an auction in Vermont. The bottom is marked Regis. The top is initialed with a C- maybe. See the 8th picture, almost looks like a Cr- it is so hard to tell. The dish measures 3" high with the lid on, 11 3/4" long, and 8 1/2" wide. One handle is slightly lower on the end than the other. This handle is slightly pulled away from the lid on one side, see the 5th picture. There are a lot of use/wear marks, scratches and discoloration on the inside of the bottom and top. The outside has wear/use marks also. There is a slight bend in the lid, see the 7th picture. The pieces together weigh 1 pound, 11 ounces.

Thanksgiving is around the corner and this would be a beautiful addition to your meal display. Measures 14" wide x 7.75" high. This serving dish was found in a deceased relatives belongings. Wrapped up well and stored in an air-tight container. All of their silver pieces were superbly cared for, this one was no exception. There are no dings or scratches or worn-through silverplate. The Pyrex insert has a few small scratches on the underside of the bowl, but none on the inside(it almost appears unused) There is some very slight tarnishing on the ornate handles and lid but should buff right out. Back in the olden days. Makers of goods, whether it be silver, gold, ceramic, porcelain, wood, etc. would leave their mark to show their pride in craftsmanship. Consumers, in the olden days, didn't want their goods marked so the"makers mark" was usually hidden. along edges, on the bottom, within the decorative area. Nowadays, people collect based on the makers and we want to see the makers mark. Isn't that funny? This three part serving dish had no markings that I could find. and I did an exhaustive search. It is similar to the Poole Silver Co serving dish I have also advertised in this auction. It is 12 X 9 X 3 1/2. It is silverplate. It has three parts. the cover with handles. The bottom with feet, and the best part is that their is another plain dish inserted that allows the bottom to be filled with water(usually heated) ... moreto help keep the food warm in transport. How clever the people were back in the olden days. The dishes are in fair shape. Tarnished and scratched. Yes, but again no pits or dents. However, the handles, both, are beginning to erode and the silver plate is flaking off. I shot a picture to show the future buyer so there are no surprises. Silverplate Serving Dish, Covered by Pairpoint W.M. Mounts, MA
Silverplate serving dish with cover by Pairpoint of Massachusetts. Not sure of age. Very likely pre-WWII. Damage. On one corner, melting from being too close to stove burner(see photo) Dish is approx. 9 5/8" X 6 1/2" Please feel free to ask questions about this item. This is from my family. We are not a dealer.
