The Bowl shows the most amazing design to the lid which I am sure was quite difficult and time consuming to produce. The Lid also shows a most interesting Original Family Armorial Crest and you can see the shadow the Sterling inlaid Plaque for the Armorial so you know the Dish has never been re-plated which I know is how advanced collectors want to find them. You can also see the Tinned Interior of the Lid with Hammer marks from being completely Hand Made. This is the finest quality example I have sold in years and though unmarked it is certainly the quality of a top maker such as Matthew Boulton. The Serving Dish is a nice large and impressive example for display and also quite practical for modern use. Measuring 11" wide and sitting 9" tall or the actual serving area is 9" wide by 2" deep. The Dish is in very fine all original condition with minor signs of age and use including some Copper peaking through on the high spots but no dents, cracks or repairs. I doubt you will find another large Authentic Sheffield Plate Covered Serving Bowl of this quality and great for up for auction any time

Antique Silver Entree Dishes, Tureen & Cover
F abulous old squareish silver plated entree dishes. Or tureen& lid. Probably late Victorian? They are an elegant shape with curved sides and rounded corners and a rope edge decoration. They fit together to make a tureen but the handle is missing so they can be used as serving dishes instead. They were designed to be also used in this way as the decoration around what would be the underside of the lid shows. No makers or composition marks. There is a n 8 on the slot where a handle should be. Please see the identical one I have listed which does still have it's handle. The condition is lovely with no dents or dings. Just a few small marks. Little plate loss just some rubs to t he corners of the lid and on the bottom of the base. Very good inside so has probably had little use for it's age. Antique English Entree / Serving Dishes c.1900 - Goldsmith's & Silversmith's Co.
A first for me. I have never had or seen a pair of silverplated Entree dishes with these wonderful and unusual removable carrying handles, a perfect invention for to carry really hot dishes. The shaped handles are removed easily by sliding off at each end and can be used with the lids on or off. Each of the fluted lids has a most attractive handle with a foliate design and again are removable allowing for the lids to also double up as open serving dishes. If this isn't enough, they are made by a top-notch London silversmith, the"Goldsmith's and Silversmith's Company" at"112 Regent St. London W. In excellent condition(with minor wear commensurate with age- silverplate is intact and in good shape) they date to around 1900, late Victorian or Edwardian in era. Dating to the 1830s-1840s. Each dish has two handles and a finial done in an ornate foliate design, cast and applied. This applied work is quite well done and very detailed, the finial in particular is very attractively designed in the shape of a large trumpet flower and leaves. The rim of the dish has an applied sterling silver edge as well. Applied on each lid is an elegant monogram of'RT' These are beautiful and attractive pieces, suitable for serving any sort of entree or dish. The dishes are in excellent overall condition. A pair of silver plated serving dishes which are both marked as follows on the back: 1.25 Cross Arrows WH& S and then I beleive B P with MPA to the side. Hard soldered 23269. I beleive they date between 1850 and 1899 but they could be later. I also beleive that the maker is William Hutton& Sons.They are heavy at approximately 1770g and 1775g.and are roughly 30cm by 20 cm and about 13cm high including the handle.Condition: There is some plate missing on the underside of the bottom of them and they have light scratching all over where they have been used.

Top Quality Pair Antique English Silver Plate Entree Dishes c.1850
A stunning pair of Victorian entree dishes. Beautiful quality and wonderfully decorative, the two things we always look for in these pieces; and rarely find. The top and sides of the lid are beautifully engraved and the top crowned with the most exquisite cast handles. These handles are removable by twisting and removing. This allows the lids to turn over and become two additional open serving dishes. Each has a tiny punched makers initials, hard to identify, dating to around 1850. TWO silver plated English Sheffield? entree dishes
These two beautiful entree dishes with gadrooned edges and removable handles are likely English. Circa 1800-1850. They are from the same maker, and are silver plated over copper, each with an engraved dragon on its lid. I cannot find any makers' marks. Each dish weight 4 lb. one oz, dish, lid and handle combined. They measure about 12.5"x 9.25" One of them appears to have been used more than the other, having more wear and scuffs as pictured, but both are still magnificent pieces. When the handles(which have a slightly different base, as pictured)are removed, each lid is made to be used as a serving dish, so these are two lidded dishes or four uncovered dishes, depending on how they are used. Based on a previous appraisal, they are English Sheffeild.

An eclectic mix of Vintage& Antique Items- Many added every week. LOT DETAILS: 43731 A set of 4 gorgeous looking c.19th silver plated entree dishes with ornate chased fern and ribbon decoration to lids. Detachable handles so that the lids can be used as secondary serving dishes if desired. Condition: Overall gleaming silver. Some slight wear mainly to one of the dishes. One base dish has some slight solder perish at its join with rim decoration but not a big issue, another has a small solder blob to rim. One of the handles is a non-matching replacement.
