The Coasters are of quite a large size. Easily holding a full size bottle of Champagne or a Large Decanter as seen in our photos. The Coasters shows wear throughout to the Brass base metal, but it actually looks like the Coasters are Gold Gilt and lends a very rich look to them in my opinion. The Bottoms of the Coasters are carved wood, Mahogany I believe and they show nice age shrinkage as you want to see but are also still solid with only the most minor looseness(they do not fall out) The Coasters are unmarked, but a lot of early Victorian Silver never was marked and judging by the quality they were made by a fine period Silver company. The Cast fancy designs around the top are applied in sections, the lines you see in the photos are original and not cracks, there is no cracks throughout. A lovely pair of old Sheffield Plate Wine Coasters made around 1840. They are in very good condition with only a small loss of plate revealing the underlying copper. They have wooden bases which are covered in green baize and silver plated central buttons. They are quite substantial. Have retained their original shape and sit firmly. There is an attractive applied decoration around the rims of grapes, vines etc. Overall a very nice pair of early Victorian wine coaters. Description this is a rather nice quality pair of matching silver plated on copper wine bottle. This substantial pair of Old Sheffield Plate wine coasters were made circa 1815. They have polished wood bases and the main body is semi-fluted with an applied decoration to the upper rim. As normal 200 years of polishing the silver reveal the underlying copper on the high areas. Date of Manufacture: circa 1815 Condition Some loss of plating and a couple of dents. Floral and vine chased decoration to the body, with a thread decorated border. The coasters are fitted with turned mahogany bases. Ornamented with hallmarked sterling silver buttons to the centre. You are bidding on a vintage silverplate set of three wine bottle coasters that were manufactured for the Onondaga Golf& Country Club. The coasters are approximately 6 inches in diameter. They show signs of wear due to age and use. The coasters that are marked O.G.C.C. for 1965 and 1966 were made by Swan& Co. Jewelers& Silversmiths in Syracuse. New York. The coaster that is marked 1971 was made by Wm.Rogers and has pattern number 988 on the back of the coaster. The Onondaga Golf& Country Club was designed by Walter Travis and opened in 1900. Silver Electroplate Bottle Coasters Trays Shabby Chick Antique
Set of 3 Silver electroplate coasters or trays. This have been in my family since I was a small child. We used them to stand glass decanters in. They are all slightly different with varying patterns on them. All have lost most of the silver plate from polishing. One of the coasters has a hard wood base. Could be mahogany. The other 2 appear to have a bakerlite base. There are some dents and all are very slightly misshapen. I'm probably to blame for much of the damage. All of them have been given a felt bottom. None of the family know where they have come from originally. My parents probably bought them in a jumble sale in the early 70's. Wm HUTTON & SONS VICTORIAN SILVERPLATE AND WOOD WINE/CHAMPAGNE BOTTLE COASTERS
This is one of a pair of vintage wine coasters from the estate of an English gentleman who was living in Florence. Oregon. The reason I am selling them separately is that the pair are matched EXCEPT this one has the Wm. Hutton& Sons hallmark(8 crossed arrows) and a small x for the date but the other does not. I've been told that selling them separate is the correct way to do this. This is a silverplate and wood wine/champagne bottle coasters. The coaster measures approximately 7" in diameter by 2" tall. Overall condition is good. Some wear and fading to the wood medallion and tarnish to the silverplate with some wear on the silverplate showing copper where the bottle goes in. Some wear to the felt bottom. Around the edge of the decoration is a thin line of copper wire which is how the earliest silver plate was done- it is ... morealmost a hallmark itself. But this wine coaster has no hallmark. Since it is matched to the marked one, I am listing it as by the same maker. There is no mark indicating if it is silver, silver plate, silver on copper, or other but the copper wire line and tarnish lead me to believe it is silver plate on copper.
