The Bowl shows the most amazing design to the lid which I am sure was quite difficult and time consuming to produce. The Lid also shows a most interesting Original Family Armorial Crest and you can see the shadow the Sterling inlaid Plaque for the Armorial so you know the Dish has never been re-plated which I know is how advanced collectors want to find them. You can also see the Tinned Interior of the Lid with Hammer marks from being completely Hand Made. This is the finest quality example I have sold in years and though unmarked it is certainly the quality of a top maker such as Matthew Boulton. The Serving Dish is a nice large and impressive example for display and also quite practical for modern use. Measuring 11" wide and sitting 9" tall or the actual serving area is 9" wide by 2" deep. The Dish is in very fine all original condition with minor signs of age and use including some Copper peaking through on the high spots but no dents, cracks or repairs. I doubt you will find another large Authentic Sheffield Plate Covered Serving Bowl of this quality and great for up for auction any time

Antique Edwardian English Silver Plated Entree Dish. By Daniel& Arter. Description Antique English silver plated entree dish. Rectangular shaped dish with curved under edges raised on four bun feet(1 missing) Protuding rim decorated with repousse foliate decoration& a matching design handle on each side. Lift off lid with a raised oval shaped dome surrounded by a beaded border& finished with a lifting handle. Stamped on the underside with the makers mark. Maker Daniel& Arter Birmingham. England. The firm was established in Birmingham in the late 19th century(the first known sterling silver hallmark was entered in Birmingham Assay Office in 1882) The founders were Thomas Henry Daniel(died 1897) and Thomas Richard Arter(died c. 1915) and was active at Globe Nevada Silver Works. Highgate Street, Birmingham as makers of brass, ... morenickel-silver and electro-plated spoons, forks, ladles, etc. 1892) The firm had also a London showroom at 62 Holborn Viaduct(until 1896) and later at 98 Hatton Garden. Sterling silver hallmarks were entered in Sheffield Assay Office(1906) and London Assay Office(1913) Both these hallmarks were scarcely used. In 1920 the firm was converted into a limited liability company and became Daniel& Arter Ltd. The business was closed in the 1930s and their dies were purchased by W.J.Baker& Sons Ltd. A Good Antique Silver Plated Beaded Decorated Lidded Entree Dish. Welcome to Bigals Pandoras Box. Treasures to suit every pocket This auction is for a good quality silver plated and heavily decorated. Lidded entree dish. This piece is a good quality piece and is a substantial weight of over 1.55kgs before packaging This piece measures approx 12 inches long by approx 9.5 inches across and a raised beaded edge decoration all around the top edge of the base section.The lid has matching beaded decoration around the top edge with lateral beading all around and with solid cast beaded handle. All decorated as shown. The top section is a tiny bit warped and does not fit perfectly int the base. But only by 1mm or so, just a tiny fault but I try to describe honestly. It is in good condition with a little rubbing to the plate on the top and a few light ... moredings on the lid but no other major dings or dents. It is in used condition, so not perfect, but it is a stunning piece as shown. A good item in as stated condition.
