There are a few small dings in the top tray but these are only visible at certain angles and will not be noticed with food on the tray. The Tray/ Dish is double skinned so the heat beneath is not too severe. The main central burner is a paraffin burner and will require a wick and fuel but there is plenty of room beneath for tea lights to burn as there is adequate side venting.
