I'M EXCITED BECAUSE.I have honestly and genuinely never ever seen a piece of silver plate in such good condition. I have seen hundreds of pieces of silver over the years, my own, my familys, in shops but this looks like it came straight out of the Factory showroom when it was made in 1935! The serving/ entrée dish measures approx. 20 cm wide by 27.5 cm(excluding handles) in length by 13-14 cm tall to the top of the handle. It consists of a double handled ... moremain dish on turned feet with a lidded handle and an internal removable gullied drip tray. The dish is fully marked Walker& Hall A1 for best plate and has the date letter F in a square with the right hand edge of the square as a pointing arrow to the right. This precisely dates the piece to 1935. This style of date letter was introduced in 1930 with A. THIS PIECE REALLY IS STUNNING AND SO RARE. Totally immaculate. From MINT condition with an infantesimally small missable unnoticeable scuff on the edge corner and a few of my greasy fingerprints, I only mention this for the purists but genuinely in absolutely staggering condition. Never been used and hidden away for 79 years. Given the condition of this item you would be hard pushed to find another of this age like it and if you did it would command a heavy premium of at least £150. Having a rectangular body with rounded corners, a pressed galss liner sitting in a frame which has chased ivy-work, a lift-off lid with cast conch shell finial, a floral swing handle, and all sitting on four cast foliate feet. Made by Walker and Hall of Sheffield in circa 1880. ART DECO WALKER& HALL SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATED THREE PART MUFFIN DISH An Art Deco Sheffield silver plated muffin dish sporting a stepped lid so typical of the movement and the period. Was made by Walker and Hall so you know it is top drawer. The piece is comprised of three parts, a lower dish for hot or iced water depending on whether you wish to use it for muffins or, as was often also the case, keeping icecream or mousses chilled. Estimated to have been made during the Art Deco period it is in very good condition for its age and purpose with just small signs of age/use to the ample silver cover. A wonderful example of an antique Swivel or Revolving Domed Silver Plated Breakfast Serving Dish. Complete with the fitted internal pierced drainer and bowl which would have been placed over hot water in the base to keep food warm. Made by the famous Sheffield silversmiths'Walker and Hall' and dating between 1885-1920. The piece features decorative handles and two'screws' which were used to adjust the tension of the swivel lid to prevent it from crashing back on opening. It stands on four shapely reeded legs with claw feet. The removable drip tray has a nice pierced decorative design. The base is marked with'Walker and Hall and the W&H Flag with a shield below with the letter'T' plus the numbers 51895 below. Approx Size: 36 cm wide x 23 cm deep x 24 cm high. Walker & Hall Sheffield A1 silver plate round serving dish/platter, 1920-1930
This is a silver plated serving dish. Probably used in a hotel by Walker& Hall of Sheffield. According to the date mark, the plate was made between 1920 and 1930, of- A1- silver plate. Walker& Hall was established in Sheffield in 1845 by George Walker. Becoming an assistant of Dr. John Wright who had conducted important experiments on electroplating Walker secured the royalty of electroplating for Sheffield. The business was joined by Henry Hall and became in 1853 Walker& Hall. The factory was at Howard Street. This is a silver plated large oval serving dish/meat platter. Probably used in a hotel. The dish is made by Walker& Hall of Sheffield. According to the date mark, the plate was made between 1920 and 1930, of- A1- silver plate. I have a matching. As this is a heavy piece.
