But I think that the original lifting knop has been replaced at some time with a Bakelite one. A very beautiful and ornate Sheffield silver plated roll-top serving dish/ breakfast dish. It has swags& garlands of flowers and leaves around the bottom. It stands on four legs with goat head masks terminating in cloven hooves. The knobs are in the form of a Tudor Rose. The maker is H& L(Richard Hodd& William Linley 1862-1872 London) It is a large size measuring 13" wide and 9.5" deep. It stands approx. 9" tall. It is heavy weighing over 2 kg. It needs a small amount of attention. It is missing the inner tray and the tray that is there has come unsoldered at one edge. The roll top works but sometimes catches on the inner stary as it is slightly lower down at the point where it is unsoldered. When this tray is lifted the roll top mechanism works fine. It just needs a touch with a soldering iron.The bone handle has ... morean old soldered repair to it but it does not look bad. The silver plate is in very good condition with barely any wear. There is one scratch on the lid and a tiny indent on the lid nothing significant. It is a beautiful piece and well worthy of the small adjustment it needs. A very nice antique. Circa 1880's- 1890's, Sheffield silver plate(silver on brass) ovoid revolving-top breakfast warming dish. The lid is hand engraved with leafy sprigs, birds, and butterfies. It contains the pierced tray for the bacon grease to drain, and the lower tray to prevent any grease from entering the hot water placed inside the bottom. Has not been polished by us. It measures 9" tall by 14-1/4" wide at handles by 9-1/4" deep, the well 10-1/4" wide by 4" tall by 7-3/4" deep. Very good condition: without dents or breaks, no engraved initial or monogram. Some slight wear to silver showing the brass.

A very fine antique. Cieca 1890, Egyptian Revival silver plate revolving top breakfast dish. Unmarked, probably English made. It contains the top pierced tray for meats, and the under drippings tray. The belly is to contain hot water for heating. It measures 8-1/4" tall by 13-1/4" wide by 9" deep. Excellent condition: without wear to silver plate(belly needs polishing) no dents or breaks, no engraved initials. Most minor abrasive cleaning, minor use scratches to interiors.

A wonderful example of an antique Swivel or Revolving Domed Silver Plated Breakfast Serving Dish. Complete with the fitted internal pierced drainer and bowl which would have been placed over hot water in the base to keep food warm. Made by the famous Sheffield silversmiths'Walker and Hall' and dating between 1885-1920. The piece features decorative handles and two'screws' which were used to adjust the tension of the swivel lid to prevent it from crashing back on opening. It stands on four shapely reeded legs with claw feet. The removable drip tray has a nice pierced decorative design. The base is marked with'Walker and Hall and the W&H Flag with a shield below with the letter'T' plus the numbers 51895 below. Approx Size: 36 cm wide x 23 cm deep x 24 cm high. Oval, roll-top breakfast dish. The lid is ornately decorated with scrollwork and foliate chasing on both sides of the lid. Surrounding a monogram plaque engraved in scrollwork with the initials, A L" Both the lid and the interior dish are rimmed with a band of raised beading. The button handle is intact. Opening the lid, which then tucks perfectly underneath the dish proper, serving an an insulator to the hot ... morewater dish beneath. The body of the dish has two curved handles with impressed linear decoration and shell finials in the centres. The dish is fitted with a removable. Convex, high-polish, well and tree, so hot water can be placed in the dish below to keep the entree warm. When the tray is out, the rolltop may be used as a deeper serving dish. The dish is elevated slightly above the table. Standing on four, curvilinear, and, elongated pat-de-lion feet. Each leg is topped with a figural cornice depicting the open-mouthed head of a bearded and crowned monarch. This is an elegant serving dish. With wonderful detailing.
