2 Antique Wood Architectural Remnant Acorn Finials Square Cut Nails old paint
Up for auction are two antique acorn finial architectural remnants with the original square nails sticking out. Recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. Nice early dry finish, a bit dirty and dusty. There is damage to the acorn cap on one and finial on the other but great distressed remnants none the less. They are 2 1/4" wide by approx 3" tall. Some of the wood has dried and pulled away from the joins leaving hairline cracks at some of the joins, expected of wood this old and exposed but adds to the distressed look. Best of luck in bidding. Antique flag pole ball top, copper and gold gilded, folk art ???
This is an interesting piece I've had stored away for years. The ball is made of copper and has what looks like early 20th c or late 19th c gold paint. It measures about 4" in diameter. The rod is 8" lg and has good oxidation.no threads. My guess is this sat on top of a flag pole or something else requiring a finial. It would make a great topper for certain types of weathervanes.

Large Antique Aluminum Finial Column Shape Clever Mounting Hardware VINTAGE!
Ornamental antique black painted aluminum finial. It may be used pointing up or down. It is made of two pieces which split vertically. The iron hardware for mounting is interesting. There is an hexagonal head that fits inside of the two finial pieces where they come together. Outside the six pronged extension acts like a modern day molly. Weighs 6 oz and measures 8" tall excluding the hardware. It measures 2-1/2" in diameter at the widest point. The threaded post measures 1-1/8" long. Fully intact. The black paint is worn. Vintage Tudor Style Curtain Rod Holders, Finials, and Curtain Rings
These items- 2 pairs of curtain rod holders. 2 pairs of decorative curtain rod finials, 24 curtain rings are all made of heavy metal. They were removed from our Tudor style house in Pittsburgh when the house was updated sometime before 1954 and have been in storage ever since. The house was built in the late 1920's and these window accessories were probably installed first at that time. I have not tried to clean these items. Other than to blow off the dust. The items are basically black but have a metallic glimmer- kind of a bronzy steel color- see the photos. They are clearly made of iron or steel, as they are strongly attracted by a magnet. The finials have a round opening for the curtain rod with an inside diameter of 3/4 inch(see photo) The rectangular openings in the rings measure 3/4 inch by 1 inch. In the main photo and in the ... morelast photo. I have assembled the pieces as I think they should be for installation using a wooden 5/8" dowel for the curtain rod. I do not have the original curtain rods, but assume they were a hollow steel rod, similar in diameter to the dowel shown. The dowel is not included in this sale, as it's difficult to package for shipment but you can buy them at the local hardware or home improvement store or about $2.50 each for a 4' length. The dowel could be painted to make it look like the original metal pieces. Alternatively, you could use a 5/8" metal rod or tube. For an even more interesting look, a square metal"rod" could be used, though the ends would have to be modified to attach the finials which are made to fit over a round/cylindrical rod- see the photo. Each finial weighs 8oz. Each curtain rod holder weighs 10.5oz. Measures about 5 1/2inches high and would extend about 3 1/2 inches from the wall. Each curtain ring weighs 1oz. The buyer would need to supply the curtain rods as discussed above. Screws to mount the curtain rod holders to the wall and hooks to hang the curtain on the rings. For the right room.
