Additional Information: A beautifully designed cotton hat with fingerlings. Such caps come from the Bamileke people of Cameroon Grasslands. This cap is in excellent condition and can still be worn. In this Cameroon Grasslands region hats are made in wide variety of media such as vegetable fiber. Cotton, and feathers, and in different shapes. Hats are part of prestigious regalia in the Cameroon grasslands. They are worn by men during special ceremonies. It is unimaginable to see a notable in an outfit without his hat. Pottery, animal-skin, two-attached drums-also known as a"bongo"though a traditional bongo has different size drum heads. This fact is very interesting. For these two drums are the same size and only differential tightening of the skin-head produces a different pitch, giving us a possible time period of pre- 1930, for soon afterwards, the classic bongo began appearing in both Havana and American nightclubs. The drums most likely came out of the eastern sector of Cuba. Which was known in the 19th century as the"Oriente" According to some scholars that area may be the origin of the attached drum-though others disagree, arguing that the STARTING idea ... morecame out of the African Congo/Angola region and made its way to the New World via Cuban slaves much later in the early 1500s. Post Pre Columbian Spanish Colonial brass stirrup Peru artifact relic 1875 AD
This unusual lovely brass stirrup was made in Peru during the Post Inca period Spanish Colonial rule. It is a heavy item and it still has a bright sheen with some tarnish and minor scratches left from age. It was not likely warn on a regular basis as it would be heavy. More than likely it is a ceremonial piece for display or used during a parade or inspection of a local troops when they were dressed up. It may have been an officer’s piece. Not likely a heavy brass piece would be carried through the Andes highlands. Notice the bar on top for the leather strap. Interesting is the décor on the side of the stirrup of an Incan figure head. The stirrup bottom is flat with a triangular hole in it. You can see the colorfully dressed uniformed Spanish troops in their colorful array. Horses and all, on a parade ground or a brass stirrup as a ceremonial ... moreitem or gift. Really nice artifact and one usually overlooked as it was a post Inca period Colonial rule item. It does show the influence of the Inca artistic culture on the stirrup. Ca: 1850 AD Hand embossed with metal work. A great piece to shine up a room as décor and bring conversation about olden times in the Spanish conquest of the Peruvian people. This is a pre Columbian figure of a man riding a dog. believed to be of Mexico. I don't know the exact age or much else about it. I do know it is authentic pre-Columbian. As you can see from the pictures it has some damage to the dog legs. It still has original dirt from where it was found.

The cardboard is strengthened by a heavy layer of paint. Embellished with nine braids of horsehair, an unbraided beard measuring 14" in length. And 18 protrusions made of a yellow material covered with heavy red paint, this a rare and wonderful piece. It will make a superb addition to any collection of unique masks. The Toltecs Were before the Aztec people so this is very old. Has been in my family for years. The head. Body, arms and legs are all separate pieces that fit together to make this 3 1/2 foot statue( that is an approximate height) Its made of clay or something like it, It has wonderful details. condition note: two of the tridents that make up the crown have fallen off but I still have them. My father glued them back on many years ago and when they fell off again I didn't want to re-glue since I did not know what would work. Older Sacred Gourd Bowl w/bead design
This Indian bowl is really unusual. Not quite sure the origins.but I think it is an older one. Unusual bright pattern throughout. Small beadwork. Some beads at edge have come off. The rest is intact. Mexican 17th-18th Century glass trade bead necklace
Highly collectible and very rare 17th-18th Century. San Pedro de Quiatoni glass bead necklace from Oaxaca, Mexico. These tear drop beads are Venetian/Oaxacan, as there is still ongoing debate as to whether or not they were imported from Venice or made in the burgeoning Mexican glass factories of the same period. Acquired in my travels in Mexico more than 15 years ago. Total height of necklace is approximately 10" and each bead measures 2.5.
