This sculpture may be identified with the Dogon people of Mali who are known because of their important production of ritual figures and staffs made of metal and used in variety of ceremonies. Brass and iron figures are identified with Dogon myths of creation. As the blacksmith was one of the first primordial beings known as Nommo created by Ama who is one of the major Dogon deities. The identity between the Nommo and the blacksmith creates a bond and an identity that gives the blacksmith special powers which include the ability to call down rain so important in Dogon life. Animal figures are also part of the Dogon myths of creation. Animal participation is annotated in the story of Dogon mythology. These animals are associated to the creation for the roles they plays in the mythic time. Dogon culture greatly values these animals. They symbolize chieftainship. Power, and wealth. Figures such as this would be placed in the Binu sanctuary, a sacred shelter where the Dogon keep objects of magical importance. ANTIQUE ARROW COWAN LENNING BROWN CO. - CAST IRON TOBACCO / CIGAR CUTTER
Here for sale is a Cast Iron Arrow Tobacco Cutter: counter top style. Made for Cowan Lenning Brown Company. The cutter measures about 18 inches long and 7 1/2 inches tall and weighs about 12 pounds for shipping. It is mounted on a 1 1/4 inch thick board. The item has some light wearing and rust. I have not tried to clean it except to lightly dust it. There are several areas where it looks possibly repaired: one on the front side between the e and n of"lenning" and a couple at the very top of the cutter on the back side as shown in the photos. Regardless of any issues. The cutter is a very attractive and apparantly functional item. The arm moves up and down easily as does the cutter blade.

~ 1925 Spalding Arrow B C Tennis Racket ~ Made for just one year. This beautifully appointed tennis racket shows well! Very solid racket. Varnish has about 90% coverage(not including handle) Attractive rounded frame. Leather butt collar goes all the way around but shows wear-held in place with nice brass tacks. Deep grooves in an unusual red tinted handle. Decals intact. No warping. Red spiral gut has 7 breaks. A real good looking racket that is very hard to find. I've only seen one like it! FINE LARGE ANTIQUE CHINESE GUAN GE GEYAO TYPE HU ARROW VASE QING DYNASTY
A fine large antique Chinese Hu Arrow vase. The elongated Qianlong shaped body with canted corners, with a pair of tubular handles to the sides. Decorated with a thick even celadon greyish blue green colour with black" iron wire" crackled glaze. The glaze ends before a nicely finished foot rim which has a dark purple wash. Size; 13. 3/4 inches high( 35 cms) Condition; fine. No damage or repairs. There are small spots of lime from the glaze paste which can be seen on the foot rim and body. These are from production. Primitive Antique Hand Made Weather Vane Folk Art Arrow and Direction Letters
Early Primitive Antique Weather Vane Originally found in Maine. This is a nice early hand made Weather Vane. On the top is a cut out arrow in a great folk art primitive shape. On the top of the arrow pole is a large brass finial. The finial has a small dent on the top and has some tarnish that I have not polished. The arrow pole fits inside another iron pipe that has the direction letters attached. The letters are large, about 4" by 4" and have a nice cut out look. I think the letters and arrow are made from a heavy tin and the poles are made of iron. On the bottom of the second pole there is a wider piece attached with a hole in the bottom. The hole which is where it would attach to a larger pole is about 3/8" across. As you can see in the pictures this is in two pieces with the arrow section fitting into the arrow section. ... moreWith both pieces together it measures 17.5" tall. The arrow is almost 17" long and the letters extend 9. 5" from the center pole. So it measures 17.75" across. Nice Early Antique Folk Art Weather Vane. Great Primitive Piece to use inside or out. TWO vintage/antique North Indian tribal Indo-Persian ARROW Rajasthan steel point
This auction is for a pair of unusual vintage/antique tribal hunting arrows from Northwest India(Rajasthan) There are many groups in the area who either use or have used bows and arrows in the recent past and I am not sure what group made these. The tips are forged from steel and are roughly sagittate in form(arrowhead-shaped) The shafts are made from a species of reed or cane similar to giant reed(Arundo donax) or phragmites. The feathers are smallish and in poor condition/probably damaged by insects. Binding is native thread. The compound nocks are interesting(see pictures) Probably early 20th century. Pair of Vintage Antique Arrow Turn Signal Fender Lights. They measure 4" diameter x wedge shape thickness of 7/8" to 2 1/2" Lenses are glass NOT plastic and have chrome rings. Three are very good and one shows loss to chrome. Black metal case is good on one but shows paint loss and pitting on the other. Glass lenses are excellent with no cracks. One shows maker's mark but is not fully legible(photo 7& 8) Have no idea if they work.

Antique Draper & Maynard CLUBS WOODEN HICKORY Club Arrow Spalding Pro Chrome
A lot of antique hickory shaft golf clubs. Complete with leather wrap handles and drop forged metal club heads. We have recently come into possession of a lot of 3 antique golf clubs. Each featuring a genuine hickory shaft and a chrome plated metal club head. Two the clubs are 5 irons by Ideal, while the third is listed as a putter by Spalding. The Spalding is identified as a Kro Flite Sweetspot iron. There are leather wrapped handles on all three of the clubs, and the handle tips are metal capped on both of the Ideal clubs(see photo) Early golf clubs were all made of wood. They were hand-crafted. Often by the players themselves, and had no standard shape or form. As the sport of golf developed, a standard set of clubs began to take shape, with different clubs being fashioned to perform different tasks and hit various types of shot. Later, ... moreas more malleable iron became widely used for shorter range clubs, an even wider variety of clubs became available. The Ideal putter measures 34 1/2 inches. While the Spalding and Ideal 5 irons are 36 1/2 and 37 3/4 inches, respectively. Together, the lot weighs 2 pounds, 9 ounces. Hickory was the dominant material for golf club shafts up until 1935. Until metal shafts became widespread. As such, we feel these clubs are vintage, and have the type of wear one would expect with items of this age. All three shafts seem to be in good order, without chips or cracks. The leather wrappings on all three have little wear, and are possibly replacements, albeit very professional ones. The chrome club heads show scrapes and oxidation, although this is certainly understandable with items that have seen athletic use. This lot of classic golf clubs are a great find for anyone looking to restore vintage golf clubs. Check out the HUGE selection of items in our eBay store. A vintage. Told by previous owner it was from a 1938 Pierce Arrow automobile his father owned. Streaks and pitts are dirt on the back side of the glass. Marked on back; Geo. W. Borg Co. Chicago 067902. about 3 1/2" across by 3 1/2" deep. It is in UNCLEANED, original, as found condition with wear, glass is dirty, face is clean, not pitted, see scans. NOTE!
