This is an antique Japanese Samurai quiver with two arrows. The quiver is a finely woven basket with designs incorporated into the weaving. The bottom end of the quiver is wood. Some to the attachment straps have got missing. the body of the quiver is sound. The arrows are bamboo. They have hand wrought metal tips in the shape of bullets. In between the feathers, there is Japanese writing, could be owners name or something else. The quiver is 35 1/4" long and 2 1/2" at the widest, the arrows are 31 1/2" long. Condition, as stated, a couple of the carrying straps have gone missing, basket is sound. The arrows have a few shrinkage cracks in the bamboo. The feathers are still there, but with issues. Very Large. Partly Restored Genuine 15th or 16th Century Ming Dynasty Chinese Green Glazed“Sancai” Votive Statuette of a Female Attendant Holding a Serving Platter. CLASSIFICATION: Sancai Glazed Ceramic Statuette. ATTRIBUTION: Ancient China. Ming Dynasty, 15th or 16th Century. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height(including the pedestal) 338 millimeters(13 1/2 inches) Breadth(excepting the pedestal. Which is wider) 84 millimeters(3 3/8 inches) Thickness(excepting the pedestal. Which is deeper) 78 millimeters(3 1/8 inches) Base: 123 x 110 millimeters(4 7/8 x 4 3/8 inches) CONDITION: Very good though partly restored. Head was detached. Serving plate crumbled, small vertical crack to pedestal, all professionally restored. A little wear consistent with any funerary item which is over five(perhaps close to six) centuries in age including the customary little ... moreblemishes expected with hand-produced ancient porcelain. Not absolutely flawless, but certainly in a very good state of preservation. DETAIL: A nicely conserved. Relatively well-preserved, and very large sancai glazed statuette so wonderfully characteristic of Ming Dynasty artwork. Sancai, or three-color glazes principally in yellow, green and brown was a development of the Tang Dynasty(618-907 AD) Sancai(three-colored" wares were first made for burial, using lead-based glazes that produced mottled and streaky effects in green, amber-brown, and cream, with an occasional addition of blue or black. The production of such exquisite porcelain items required multiple firings of fine white clay at temperatures near 1000c(1800f) degrees. A wide variety of statuettes were commonly produced such as musicians, chamberlains(butlers) maids, cooks, even animals; all designed to serve their deceased master. This is a very well carved 19th century Buddha from Burma. Measuring approximately 3-3/4" in height, not including the custom made hardwood base, which adds another inch to its height(total height with base is 4-3/4" The piece is made from a chocolate brown hard wood and is in excellent condition. Authentic Burmese art with any real age to it is hard to come by, as those of you who collect oriental art already know. My late Dad fought in New Guinea during WWII. He ended his service there as a member of the Australia New Guinea Administrative Unit liaising with the natives and coast watchers. He brought a few mementos back of his stay there. This bamboo comb is one of them. It is in excellent condition and measures 34.5 cms long. There is a very faint diamond pattern cut into the handle and the teeth are wired. It is not ornate but is a simple example of what it was used for. I'd like you to have a closer look at my items.
