TWO RARE VINTAGE COPPER "BISURATED MAGNESIA" Advertising Printing Blocks, 1920's
BISURATED MAGNESIA was some seriously good stuff to have around! This lot of two vintage printing plates is a great deal! I dated this from some early drug advertisements: The Camperdown Chronicle in Britain ran an advertisement on Sat. May 29, 1920 that claimed: Bisurated Magnesia relieves indigestion in five minutes. Get a bottle to-day. The first plate is metal. And measures just inside 2" wide(and 1/2" in height) to fit within a one column newspaper width ad space. The second is a vintage copper logo plate on a wooden printing block for BISURATED MAGNESIA. It would have printed the words in reverse. It measures one column width. 2" w by 3/4" h.

huge vintage lot of printing blocks letterpress advertising Atlanta antique 50's
This auction is for a huge lot of old printing blocks. These came from a printing company that operated in the Atlanta Georgia area in the 40's. 50's and 60's. They had clients around Georgia, Florida, and the Carolina's. All kinds of advertising pieces. There are over 650 blocks in the lot. I stopped counting at 650 and there were still some on the table. I have not gone through the lot anymore than just laying them out on the table. As I put them away into boxes I wrote down a few of the businesses that I saw Bob's Cola out of Atlanta GA, a book cover or page for Old Okefenok by Laura Singleton Walker and Sara Singleton King, numerous post office pieces, Boy Scouts, US Army, US Military, Chicago Southern Airlines, Disney, View Master, Chevrolet, General Electric, IBM, Bell Telephone, Southern States, Callaway Mills, ... moreBorden's Ice Cream and the list goes on and on. A really neat lot and lots of surprises I am sure. All are on wood backing. I really do not know much about old blocks so please look over the photos carefully and feel free to ask questions and thank you for looking. What you see is what you get. These have not been cherry picked. This is the whole collection as it has sat for at least 30 years in the storage of a printing plant. I am starting the bidding at 3000 which is close to $4.50 a block. From the little research I have done it appears there are many worth in the 50 to 100 dollar range and some that will go even higher. At this price it is a amazing deal for a collector and a great deal for a dealer if they want to piece it out or sell in smaller lots. There is still plenty of money to be made on this lot. Thank you for looking. The table the blocks were laid on measures approx. 4 feet by 5 feet and the weight of the entire lot before packing is roughly 75 pounds in blocks. So I may have to ship in a couple of parcels to stay under the max weight for USPS shipping. Thanks
