I don't know if it is a complete set but there are loads of letters and some numbers with some letters being upper case and others being lower. There are a couple of fancy letters too that I noticed. This was used circa 1910 to print smaller newspapers. Pamphlets, and weeklies according to the Granddaughter of the original owner and came out of one of the southern states I think she said. Up For Auction! This is a very nice antique printing press block of a photo of a man in a suit. This would have been used on an old printing press for a newspaper or label printer. The block has a couple of markings on it. On the back it says"Sugar Creek Creamery Co. I believe this came from the Bristol. SD area as there was a location in that town and this block came from a sale close by. The photo block is likely an owner or executive for the old company that was used for a label on the product or possibly a news story that ran regularly or sponsored by that company. I'm not sure and just speculating. The photo portion is made of metal and is attached to a heavy duty block. The stamps attached to the wood appear to be made out of metal so of them look like they could be copper. But we are not sure what exactly they are made of. They are very vintage and collectible. Anrique Printing Press Box Book Metal Plate Holder Salvage Repurpose Shelving
This is an antique box that was used to hold the printing plates. There is one original plate that is coming with the item. All the wording is of course backwards due to printing onto paper. It's made of a few different metals but a solid/heavy piece. The box has the original branding of Mother warde from the"Plimpton Press" in Mass. Has a large black heavy duty handle. The front does not have a hinge only sits into place and is prone to falling out if picked up or leaned forward but if displaying will stay in place no prob. The front door looks like it has been broke and repaired looking at front and back but still historically a very cool piece. Some of the paper advertising I'm leaving untouched even though it has fallen off the front of box. Leaching up to buyer to place back on the way they want. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This sale is for the smallest‘Printing Press’ that I have ever seen. Complete with a very tiny Type Box or Case, with a lid, FULL of very small printers type, see picts. It may also have been called a‘Marker and Card Press’ based on a similar advertisement found while I was researching on eBay. The small Printing Press/Printers Press. Is approx. 2 1/8 inches tall, 2 3/4 inches long and 1 3/8 inches wide, see picts. It has a cast metal base, with a silver colored container to hold the type that is approx. 2 inches long. There is what looks like a brass tube surrounded by a large‘spring’ with a wood handle top, see picts. The wooden top is embossed/marked and believe it reads, Patented Feb. 21 1871” see picts. The type will sit into the silver colored portion. With the screw end tightened to hold them in place. The type would be inked somehow and then the wood handle is pushed down to impress the type, see picts. I believe that the box and Printing Press go together.
