Estate Copper Etched Printing Plate Block Man Bathing Suit Smoking Tobacco Pipe This antique Copper Etched printing block/plate was just purchased at a local estate sale. The block is made of very old wood and measures just about 4" by 2 3/8" It is just shy of 1" thick. On top of the wood are 2 different layers of metal. The first layer seems to be iron or steel and the top layer is copper. Etched into the top copper layer is a man wearing a bathing suit which seems to be the style of the early 1900's. He is standing on the beach and smoking a pipe. I am assuming this was some type of advertisement. But I am not sure for what. There are some dark spots which may be leftover ink and a couple of scratches upon close inspection. I do not see any major damage or dents to the metal. Of course, I do not have access to a printing ... morepress, so I have not been able to print this. As I said this is an estate purchase and I am describibg it to the best of my ability. Antique Vintage Wood Copper Printing Printers Block Knife press tin industrial
This auction is for a very old printing block. It is wood with a metal top for the image/letters. I believe the metal is copper but I do not know that for sure. It has the color of copper and some oxidation so that is why I am leaning that way. It is a butter knife. The block measures 5.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide to the furthest points and is approx. 1 inch thick.

3 nice copper topped wood printing blocks. Shrimp boat German BF-109 Intresting mosaic block. All are in good condition. I don't think that they were ever used. This copper and wood printing block was used for illustrating different types of bird's beaks. clearly the one on the right(left if printed) would be a parrot. The long beak belongs to a heron or crane but I'm not sure about the one in the center. The information on the back is missing The block is 3" across and 1 1/2" across. This was purchased by me in the late 1970's- probably 1977-78 at a flea market in New England. My total collection is now only about 40 pieces- I moved on to other things. The block weighs 5 ounces. I was just look at these from a purely aesthetic point of view, know next to nothing about the processes, I confess- I thought of making a table with them at one point. T
