An antique lever-style table top cast iron BALTIMORE printing press. It is marked"Baltimore" in cast letters on the frame. I believe this is a Baltimore model number 11(this model was designed for two ink rollers) Top ink plate is missing. No ink rollers. Measures approximately 14" long x 6.5" wide x 9" high(when open) The platen measures approximately 3 x 5" The inside chase measures approximately 4" x 2 3/8' Made of cast iron. Antique Kelsey Excelsior 3 x 5 Inch Letterpress Printing Press + Bonus Typeset
Up for auction is a really cool antique 3 x 5 inch Excelsior printing press by Kelsey& Co. of Meriden. Connecticut. Also a set of very fancy font type in a wooden type set box. One picture illustrates how ornate the lettering is, it reminds me of calligraphy. I don't know the letter model of the press for sure so I will describe everything in detail in conjunction with the many pictures I provided. It weighs 24 pounds and is made of cast iron with a black coat of paint and some painted gold lettering as well as a couple gold designs. The base measures 11.5 inches, the entire press is roughly 20 inches long including the protruding part behind the plate and the plate diameter is 5 7/8 inches. The patent date states is was patented April, 6, 1893. The'9' digit is hard to make it and I can't be positive that t is a'9' ... morebut I believe so)Following that there are patent numbers for England, France and Germany. The pictures should include enough angles so you can see all of the hardware. The press opens and closes like it should. But the rectangle that should hold the type tilts slightly and the two rectangles aren't perfectly parallel when the handle is pressed down and they separate. However, when you close the press they eventually become flush but it doesn't make initial square contact. It appears something just needs to be tightened or adjusted(pictures 4& 5) The sections where the rollers should be pivot down over the plate when the handle is pushed down. The plate spins freely when I move it but operating the press doesn't rotate it automatically. Condition: This was stored in a barn for decades. It needs a little TLC. You can plainly see there is plenty of surface rust but the black coat of paint over the cast iron is largely intact. The rust isn't deep or pitted, just on the surface. Some of the gold lettering and detail has worn or rusted over, but again it is largely intact. Cosmetically the iron is in wonderful condition and the mechanics seem to be functioning.

Up for purchase is a antique Baltimore printing press. No model number or additional info in casting. Small table top model measures approx. 15" long& 7" wide. May be missing parts so please check pics carefully. I believe there should be an ink roller assembly but it is not present. There are a pair of spring loaded rods with hooks that attach to something? The"L" shaped piece of cast needs a bolt to be reattached as seen. I don't see any broken or repaired cast iron. Antique Baltimorian cast iron printing press No 4. With the original dovetailed wooden box(no lid) Manufactured sometime in the late 1800's, seemingly as a childs toy, as the label states"Educate Your Boys- Give Them A Printing Press" The press is in nice condition, working, but could use a good cleaning to make the gold stripes stand out. Included is a bunch of letter type that came with this, and some wood separators that are in the press. Box measures 9 3/4 by 4 5/8 by 4 1/4 high. The label is good, but has wear. No lid. Antique Sigwalt Letterpress/ Printing Press- Marked 10-I*Very Good Condition: Up for auction is a fantastic. Heavy cast iron Letterpress which I have discovered recently while out on one of my'picking adventures' Before I begin with the description, picture number 12 shows(2) antique letterpress models which I discovered this past week. Please note that this auction is for the larger press(red handle/ lever) only however the smaller model will also be listed for auction this week so please check out my other listings if you are interested. This press is quite heavy given its smaller size. Weighing right at 13 pounds, and it is in very good condition. When I discovered this press it was quite dusty so I've taken the time to clean up the item but I have not added, removed or replaced any of the parts. The press appears to be complete ... moreand it is fully functional. When I raise the lever, the single roller rolls off of the ink plate and over the chase very smoothly as the ink table is rotated simultaneously by the operating dog. When I lower the lever, the roller rolls back over the the chase and back then back on top of the ink plate with ease. The chase is removable and it fits very snug in the bed. The outside dimensions of the chase are 4" x 2 1/2" and the wooden block which was found with this item measures(slightly under) 3 1/2" x 2" The cast iron body and attached parts are in excellent condition. The cast iron shows no signs of any rust. Deterioration or other damage to it and the paint on this press is in very good condition as well(a couple of small chips but no flaking, peeling or cracking) There are a couple of screws that have light surface rust but this rust is light and it would easily clean away and the single roller has dried out over time and this will need to be replaced. The press is marked 10-I followed by a small hallmark(picture#9) and though I am certainly not an expert in these antique letterpress units, after the research that I have done I believe this to be ma

I have other antiques listed and more on the way. This is a RARE hard to find piece of printing history still in working condition but you would need a roller if you wanted to use it. It has great pinstriping and an awesome flower design there just aren't many of these left. The levers and moving parts move great as they should. It looks great as is but is a bit dirty it will clean up and look even better if you want to. This is small so you can display it anywhere making it great for a decoration in a home or office. Here is an antique Baltimorean number 10 table top platen letterpress printing press. It's made of cast iron- very heavy at 15 lbs- and seems to be in very good condition. I don't know anything about printing presses. But it looks as if all the parts are there and in working order. The rubber roller is not dried out, but has a small dent in it& a replacement metal end. No rust other than on the underside of the base. Most of the gold painted trim is still good, the only worn off paint is on the handle. There is type inserted in it; various letters spelling out the words'name, address, phone' etc. apparently for printing out service cards. It measures approx. 15" long and 10" tall.There are manuals and parts for this press online; do a Google search. Still a useful item after 100 years or more. Or to add to a ... morecollection. Turn of the Century Letterpress A wonderful turn of the century letterpress marked"Baltimore No. 9" with most of its original black paint and gold trim detail. This letterpress is hand operated with a lever and the plate measures 3 5/8" x about 2 5/8" Overall in very good aged condition with a good deal of dust as well as some rust in places it is in need of a proper cleaning if it is to be used. The spring loaded holders for the roller are functional and when the lever is depressed for printing the roller will move up to be re-inked. A fantastic collectible either for use or display. Its largest dimensions are nearly 8" tall. 14" long, 6" wide, and weighs over 6 pounds. It also has a screw hole on either side of the lever as it is meant to be mounted on a desk. This listing is for a beautiful Victorian era calling card or business card letterpress or table top printing press. This item is being sold exactly as found out of storage in an old barn here in the Mid-coast Maine area. I am not familiar with these particular items. So I took this press to a local master printer who informed me that these little presses were used in the late 1800's to early 1900's and were often used privately to print calling cards or by small businesses to print either business cards or information on postcards and photos. This press still has some of the lettering in it which can just be made out to have something to do with photography. This piece has fully working mechanisms. It could use a bit of tightening and adjusting. There is an area of missing paint on the upper printing panel. Also the rubberized roller ... morehas grown dry and brittle with age. Both are an easy restoration. And not really inhibiting this piece from being used as is. It appears to be made from a thinner than expected metal, with maybe parts being tin. It is not a heavy cast iron press. It is being sold"barn fresh" as is, due to its significant age, and the fact that I have made no attempts to alter or restore it in any way. We were not able to find any manufacturers marks or any other identifying marks on the cast iron. It does have some remnants of the original painted decorations on both sides. This printing press has not been cleaned– I wiped it down gently with a soft cloth– it would benefit greatly from some detailed attention. This old piece measures 9 ¾” long with the handle in the“down” position. Stands about 4 ¼” tall at the front, and is 7 ¾” ... moretall at the top of the handle when it is in the“up” position. When the handle of the press is down and the two plates move towards each other, the space between the two is just under ½” wide. The flat top area for the ink measures 3 ¼” x 2 ½” The two flat plates that come together for the printing measure 3 ½” x 2 3/8” each. There is a screw in the front plate that turns freely. The flat bottom mounting plate has 2 pre-drilled holes. Everything moves freely and there are not broken parts. The press has no breaks. Cracks, chips, or real rust– the old original black paint is worn and chipped off and as a result there is some light rust coloring left behind that will clean off pretty well. You are looking at an Impossibly Hard to Find 19th century. Very Small Size Washington Hand Printer's Proof Press. This press was manufactured by the Paul Shniedewend& Co. Chicago, IL. This press is a true museum piece. A real antique. This press was used to print proofs of Bewick blocks for the Newberry Library. Chicago. This Washington press is the only one for sale on eBay! 120+ YRS. OLD. VERY HARD TO FIND SMALL PRESS, 66" TALL The press is only 66" tall. It has a 17" x 22" image area. There is no Tympan or Frisket with this press. If this is a problem for you call me before bidding. I have made them before with good results. All the parts on the press are original as they came from the factory. Except for the 1 leg with the square foot, that I fabricated. As I assembled this press I found that all the parts ... morefit nice and snug. This press have seen light usage and has not been abused throughout the years. This press has a wooden rounce and leather straps to move the bed in and out. Not gears as in the newer model. I would estimate it was manufactured in the 19th century. Probably in the early 1890's. I have checked the bed and platen for flatness with a precision straight edge using.003 brass shims. They show a slight low spot in the central region about 8" in diameter of between.0005& 001. This is a gradual taper and very well could have come from the factory, like this 120 years ago. These both were not ground with a Blanchard type of grinder. This press in much older, with a low 3 digit serial number. This slight low area should not present any problems on your average job. There are no smashes per say. It will be hard to find a better example of this machine. The factory scribed two lines that find the dead center of the bed. For layout purposes. There are also some other small scratches that were accidentally left in the bed, but are similar to the layout marks and will present no problem in printing. I dismantled the machine. ANTIQUE LETTERPRESS PRINTING PRESS SIGWALT SIDE LEVER ROUND BASE no 25 7X10
Hello and welcome- Up for bid is an antique Sigwalt Nonpariel? letterpress. Printing press, in working condition. I'm not an expert, but will do my best to describe it.and questions are welcome, as well as other photos, just ask what you'd like me to take a picture of, and I'll email it to you. I think it's an early Sigwalt Nonpariel, from the limited research I've done(thank you Briar Press) It is working- the stirrup handle. Side lever pulls down smoothly, and advances the disc with an arm that engages and moves while the lever moves, and the two rectangular surfaces come together- The inking disc is 10" in diameter, and the place where you put the type is 7" x 10" measured to the outside) In one of the pix a 12" ruler is placed across the platen and you can see that it is 10" wide. You'll ... morehave to get your own rollers and trucks. Also. One of the roller supports is missing the spring that runs along it. Not sure what else you'll need- maybe a chase? There is a raised number 25 in numerous places- 25 B. 25 D, 25 S, etc. I think the letter stands for the part, and the number is the model number. Round base and side lever with a stirrup handle make this an early Sigwalt. I think. The stirrup handle still has the original wood and there is much original paint and decals. I think the metallic decals have hand painted accents in colors such as green and red. Both sides have the same flourishing decals, and there is some pin striping visible in parts. It has some grease and grime on much of it. But I think this preserved it from rusting. I cleaned some of it, and some of the rust off the disc(green scrubby) and it looks like a smooth, clear surface. The greasy grime comes off easily enough with elbow grease and a soft cotton cloth dipped in alcohol. I used a green scubby and rubbing alcohol in some areas, and this removed the grease without damaging the paint. I didn't proceed further because I really don't want to disturb anything original, in case the new
