Beautiful Antique / Vintage Printers Drawer, Tray. 75 Compartments 16 1/2 x 31"
Well. If you've looked at all of the miniatures and smalls I've listed this week, now you can see the shadow box that they were all displayed in. This is a nice size printer's case or drawer. It measures 32 by 16 1/2 inches. It has the metal handle(which if you display this on the wall, will be at the top) The wood has a beautiful warm patina. There are 75 compartments! Room for a LOT of collectibles! There are some divider sections missing. My assumption is that they were removed on purpose to make room for bigger items. It has two saw-tooth hangers on the back and is ready to put on the wall as soon as you bang the last nail! Shipping will be based on winning bidder's address.

It has a metal handle that reads 14 Stymie Extra Bold Cond. That someone wrote on here. This label has dirt, wear and stains. Lots of compartments would make a great shelf. Some writing on inside of compartments, see pictures. Some stains and marks. There are rubber bumper pieces on top of each corner and one is missing on front corner. Print type tray by HAMILTON all original with years of patina bottom/back all wood as is partitions. Handle is cast and has the name HAMILTON embossed. Tray is 31.75 x 16 inches net wt. 7lb. This tray is a nice wall hanging or makes a nice shadow box for minatures or other collectibles. The front frame is green but could be brought back to original varnish finish. This came out of a cabinet that held 23 drawers. and had been painted green. The shop was a small town newspaper/print shop and these type drawers were all the rage in days of hand set type and is approximately 60 years or older This is another tray from same lot only it has different configuration as shown of the spacing and sizes of the segments. The case will include all of the letters as shown in the photos. Each of the 5 drawers is full with individual boxes for each letter. The exterior of the drawers show the sizes of the letters that are present. 1/8, 3/16, 5/16, 1/4, 3/8. The cabinet measures 21.5” long. 15.5” deep, and 11.5” tall. The cabinet is in overall good condition. There are the typical scratches and scuffs around the exterior. Along with a partial ring stain on the top, and on the rear bottom corner there is a chip in the wood. The case could be used for jewelry/ watch repair tools. This is a really nice small typesetting tray. It is in excellent condition. The wood is sound with no water or insect damage. Nice circular imprint stamp on the back that says. The Hamilton Mfg. Co, Two Rivers, WI, Made in USA. Nice. Careful construction with dovetails. All of the markings on the piece are impressed into the wood and inked. Measures 15" wide x 7-3/8" tall x 1" thick, overall. I have not cleaned or oiled it– I thought that best for the new owner to choose how much patina stays. Weighs 1 lb 0.4 oz. Antique Vintage Industrial Age HAMILTON MFG CO. 50 Drawer Wood Block Printers Cabinet. These were designed to hold the wood printers block type sets as I was told. This one was a barn find outside Chicago. It was likely one of at least three like sets of cabinets because the number group on this cabinet is 51 to 100 with drawer 57 having been substituted for drawer 106 out of the next high group of numbers from the next higher cabinet. Being as such this cabinet would have likely been a a very large printing establishment in or around Chicago. There are dings. Scratches, and all other cosmetic issues but it is a 100 plus year old cabinet anyone looking at this listing proablely are not looking for smothing new. Most of the drawers open smoothly but there are a few that you have to pull a little harder. In the future I will pull the cabinet ... moreout to take better photos. The Diminsions are: Cabinet 21" Deep X 35 1/2" Wide X 84" Tall. Drawer Outside 1 3/4" Deep X 32" Long X 16 1/2" Back. Drawer Inside 1" Deep X 31" Long X 15 Back.
