Magazines, etc. from the 1930's through about ... morethe 1960's. The sign is about 12 inches long, one 1/2 inches wide and in very nice condition. It does have a bit of a curve from being pried off the machine, but nothing significant. I believe it is made of brass and could be polished to a high patina if desired. It has a hole at each end where it was fastened onto the Linotype machine itself. All bids are in U.S. dollars. There is a brass label and tag holder that says, 18 POINT ANCIENT ROMAN OLD HAIR IONIC PRENTISS” The shelf bottom/ back panel wood has dried and now has a crack. I was going to replace the board. But then I thought about covering each compartment with a pretty piece of paper to hide the crack and make for a more interesting background for my collectibles. This listing is for a neat antique metal printer's box for type set lead letters. The cabinet has a total of six drawers that open and close nicely. They have individual compartments as shown in the photos. The cabinet is made out of metal. But the interior drawers are still made out of wood. This is from the industrial era where items were starting to be made out of metal and not so much out of wood. The cabinet measures approximately 22 1/2" wide x 20" deep x 10" high and has an approximate weight of 46 lbs. This brochure is an eight panel foldout contained within printed covers measuring about 4” x 9.25” The covers are nicely illustrated and titled THE LINOTYPE LINE– The All-Slug Route To Profit. The title page panel reads in part: The Linotype Line– Illustrating and Describing Linotypes in Eleven Different Models. Each Model is Purposely Designed. Built and Equipped for a Specific Class of Composition– The All-Slug Route to Profit– Mergenthaler Linotype Co. Tribune Building, New York Each panel is printed on both sides with most of the panels featuring a different Linotype machine. Models shown include: 15. 5, K, 4, 18, 19, ... more16, 17, 8, 14 and 9. Also shown are Lead and Rule Caster and The Ludlow Typograph. This catalog has“February 1917” printed on the back panel so thus the date. This catalog is fully complete but the staples are gone and the foldout with the eight panels is laid loose into the covers. Antique Mustang Mailer w/ Tray- Manual Contact Printer- Linotype- RARE Here is a very rare item called the Mustang Mailer. It was patented in 1870 and used for manual contact printing. You would line up lead linotype print blocks with addresses on them in the tray and stick an envelope under the stamper. Then raise the handle and the stamper would move on to the next one. This provided a fast way to print a large number of addresses onto envelopes. Hence the name"Mustang Mailer" This particular mailer came from a closed newspaper in Green Ridge, Missouri and would have been used in the late 1800's to early 1900's.
