19th Century Asian Tested 900 “Silver” Framed Small/Elaborate Mirror, Unmarked
This 19th century unmarked“silver” on wood framed/backed mirror appears to be Asian. But I cannot tell if the figures are Chinese or Korean, or? The chamfered back of this 5 5/8” by 8 ½” by 5/16” mirror could be Islamic in origin as there are no human figures shown, just detailed flowers& exotic birds within a frame of 3 friezes of diagonal lines, leaves& scrolls, repeated circles or orbs. The sides of the mirror have the frieze of leaves& scrolls repeated. There is some loss to the“silver” on the upper left corner& lower edge on the front of the mirror. The front of the mirror cannot have been made in any Islamic culture because it depicts human beings. The many scenes or vignettes of people frame the center mirror which is tarnished& worn, even spotted. The mirror itself is edged with small scallops plus an elaborate ... morescrolled pattern in both upper corners. This is a very rare mis 19th century antique silver-plated vanity fob set including a compact box. A vanity mirror, and a trinket box. it is a very ornate set with extremely intricate detailing and nice patina from age. All pieces are connected to beautiful circle linked chains which all connect to a silver-plated ring. The vanity mirror slides open to expose the hidden beveled mirror inside and shuts closed. the face cover of the mirror is of very ornate flowers and a detailed dragon wrapping the edge, they are done in very high relief. the compact box is in the shape of a shell and beautifully ribbed. The box opens and closes on a hinge and snaps tightly. inside is a beautiful silk. And feather applier with a carved ox bone circular handle, inside the lid is also a vanity mirror. the box is equally as detailed and in the shape of a mail ... morebag, it also opens and closes on a hinge and snaps tightly. One side says"U.S. Mail" and the other side has a heavily embossed George Washington stamp. the lot is in nice antique shape and is complete. the mirror alone measures 2 3/4 inches by 2 1/8 inches. the compact measures 1 3/8 by 1 1/4 inches and the trinket box measures 1 3/8 by 1 1/8 inches. Antique 1904 Derby Silver Jugendstil Repousse Art Nouveau Silver Vanity Mirror
Stunning Art Nouveau Vanity Hand Mirror in 800-950 silver. Possibly Silver plate at 925 grade but finely hallmarked along the side and reads"Derby Silver Pat. June 4. 1904" This is one of three pieces from the same Estate currently listed that were displayed and shown together. Upon closer inspection. I discovered that each were different, so split the listing. You may view the other pieces in my Very Ornate with a three dimensional Art Nouveau Repousse featuring a lovely woman in flowing gown among Cabbage Roses in the style of Alfons Mucha. Research shows this piece in Pewter by the same maker selling for $700. This piece is just stunning. There are a few subtle indentation along the edge(which are pictured) But not wear in the silver with the mirror reflection showing some minor discoloration along the beveled edge, but in general ... moreclear with no chips or cracks. The Mirror measures approx 9-3/4 x 5 3/4.
