Art Nouveau Woman Holding Mirror Antique AS IS Metal Gown Lady Figural Vanity. This wonderful table or vanity mirror was used on my grandmother's front counter in her antique and jewelry store for many years. The note on the back says"Not for sale for trying on Jewelry only" I will keep that note when this mirror sells. She had two similar ones so I am keeping the other one. This one did break and it is in pieces. Part of her right arm is missing. The finish is flaking off of the base cast iron metal. The height with the base is 17 1/2" The mirror is 5 1/2 by 7 1/2" and the figure is 8" The base has also split and does need repair. I think this is a fantastic example of a classic Art Nouveau piece with the flowing gown and her overstretched arms holding the mirror. Stamped on the side Iron Art JM9. This piece is a off white finish painted(which can certainly be re-painted) iron base with a Dragon/Bird Head on each side holding the mirror with decorative flower buds accents around the mirror. At the topis a Nude lady/cherub surrounded by flowers. Open cut pattern. Swirls and medallions create a stunning mirror with a Victorian decor. This piece stands approximately 14¼" tall. Dragon head to head 10" round/oval mirror 6" diameter. Seems to be in overall good condition. At the bottom of the mirror as shown has some discoloration ... moreat the bottom see last photo. Both pieces have areas of small paint loss. And discoloration spots as if it were brass type spots, can be easily cleaned or touched up with paint or leave as is for the Vintage look decor. The whole piece is a heavy cast iron so it can totally be re-painted if you desire. Cardboard backing of mirror soil staining from age and usage. Looks like water spots. Also, the"tilt" of the mirror is loose. I have yet to figure out how to tighten it. It will stay in place, if you position just right, but a slight movement causes the mirror to tilt. Should be easy to unscrew back and separate from lady/brass and get underneath brass to give nice/uniform cleaning. There are about 3 teeny tiny scratches that are in the mirror. These would not show up in picture so I cannot point them out. But they are very small and will not detract from piece. There are some"fuzzes" from the quick windex/paper towel use. Please know that these are just paper towel fuzz. Not part of the mirror. Also, The brass could use a cleaning as there are some greenish spots. Some people like this look so I did not clean. Offered is a"Apollo" studio vanity dresser set. Apollo studio was a company that made items for the elite in New York. I believe this mirror was made in the 1890s- 1920s. This item is guided brass filigree medallions on the center of the top of the mirror. The mirror is original and has some minoring spotting. And is missing the handle. but is otherwise functional. It has a signed image of a Gibson Girl in the center. She is quite fancy and wealthy looking lie the people who would have purchased this item back in the day.
