Beveled glass 1890's mirror 75"X19" 44 Lbs mint condition Ogee frame hall pier
We are offering this excellent Federal style mirror from the late 1890's. It is a stately 6 foot 3 inches long. This can be shipped by UPS or picked up. At my home, in NY 10956. We have an SUV so this can be delivered. To your home, if less than 30 miles from 10956, NY. A hall. mantle or pier mirror of figured flame mahogany on maple measuring an impressive 75" X 19" X 2" thick. It weighs 44 pounds unpacked and 59 pounds well crated for safe shipping. The 3” wide by 2" thick, Federal style, Ogee frame contains the original beveled glass that is in superb condition. This has been in our family since the 1920's. And was surely made decades earlier. Obviously, it has been well cared for and is quite useable for many more generations. It is simply too large for our current downsizing needs and we regretfully must part ... morewith it. We were told, by our grandparents, that this frame was part of a larger piece that was in our old family home in Pennsylvania. We cannot imagine what that piece must have measured as this mirror is over six feet. The solid and sturdy wood frame is in exemplary condition without any cracks or chips and all 4 corners are undamaged. Which is unusual and desirable for a piece this age. The fine beveled glass and silvering is excellent and this clear unfoged mirror is totally useable. We removed the thin wood sheet backing to photograph the glass back and frame, then replaced the backing. There are no company names on this frame just two small initials"CL" stamped into the exterior frame top. Hanging this vertically is easy with the old. Original, hook that goes through the frame's top. Hanging horizontally is done with 2 screws into the wall studs which is the method shown in the gallery photo of my home. Can also be simply stood on end without hanging on the wall. This fine piece was hung on our stairway landing for some 40 years. Very handy for a full length look on the way out of the house. Very Handsome. Rare Carved French Mirror This heavy mirror boasts a carved. Gilded(silver and gold) wood(not resin) frame of rare design with piercings. In the French style: a t the top of the mirror is a cameo(perhaps hand-painted porcelain) with a romantic scene in the manner of Limoges. There is a lovely floral design etched into the glass in the upper left and right-hand corners of the mirror. This mirror has been in our family since the 1930/1940's; It could be older than this time period. The back of the mirror still bears most of the original manufacturers/retail label(Conroy-Frugh Mirror Co. Pittsburg, PA) this company was established in 1883. Condition: overall very good. For your consideration is this lovely mirror. We are not very knowledgeable on mirrors. But had an antique dealer give an opinion that the mirror was Italian, 1930-40s and gold over gesso. Even at that, we will have to let the experts decide whether or not they agree and are certainly welcome to share knowledge with us. The mirror measures approximately 43-3/4" wide. 34" tall, and 2" thick. The mirror is not beveled. As for condition: The mirror looks to be in excellent condition for its age with very light wear and scratches here and there. There are a couple of places of paint loss(one on the back of the frame and one at the bottom front) as shown in images 5 and 6 where the white gesso is visible. This can be shipped by UPS or picked up. At my home, in NY 10956. A hall. Mantle or pier mirror of figured flame mahogany on maple measuring an impressive 75" X 19" X 2" thick, it weighs 44 pounds unpacked and 59 pounds well crated for safe shipping. The 3” wide by 2" thick, Federal style, Ogee frame contains the original beveled glass that is in superb condition. This has been in the family since the 30's and was probably made decades earlier. Obviously. It has been well cared for and is quite useable for many more generations. It is simply too large for our current downsizing needs and we regretfully must part with ... moreit. We were told, by our grandparents, that this frame was part of a larger piece that was in our old family home in Pennsylvania. The solid and sturdy wood frame is in exemplary condition without any cracks or chips and all 4 corners are undamaged. Which is unusual but desirable for a piece this age. The fine beveled glass and silvering is excellent and the clear, unscratched, unfoged mirror is totally useable. To show the excellent condition. We removed the thin wood sheet backing for photographs, then replaced the backing. There are no company names on this frame. Hanging this vertically is easy with the old. Original, hook that goes through the frame's top. Hanging horizontally is done with 2 screws into the wall studs which is the method shown in the gallery photo of my home. Can also be simply stood on end without hanging on the wall. This fine piece was hung on the stairway landing for some 20 years. Very handy for a full length look on the way out of the house. Beautiful. OLD, 19thC wall mirror and shelf unit. This is a large piece measuring 44" wide, 33" tall and 5" to the wall. The unit features VERY ORNATE AND DETAILED carved wood with notched patterns and severe geometric cuts. The unit features a glass mirror in the center as well as a beveled side mirror. There is a stick and ball arch at the top of the unit and there are ball and stick balustrades on the shelf sections. This is a very nice unit with exceptional details. It is original with the glass mirrors still held in place with their original wood supports on the back. The top arch is held in place with the original wood dowels. The shelf is finished in a burgundy brown paint which is old, but I do not know if it is original. The unit is very heavy. It is in very good condition with expected evidence of age and use. There ... moreare some scuffs to the finish which can be resolved and are not terribly distracting. The glass is original and the mirrors do show some aging. They are not chipped or cracked, just some cloudiness and age spots. This is a beautiful mirror/shelf. Do to the size and somewhat fragile nature of the unit. Items listed as local pick up need to be picked up at our location or buyer needs to arrange for shipping.
