The frame is a wood base with the fine decorations added in gesso and all finished in its original gilding. The frame is in good original antique condition. We can see minor repairs to the gesso. Especially a repair to the top of the crest and there are also small bits of gesso missing here and there and chips in the gilding. All of this is very typical in these old gilt frames. There are ornate brackets at the top of the opening. It measures 43 inches wide. 108 inches tall and is 5.25 inches thick at the pediment. The inside dimensions are 32 by 84. Here is a beautiful Oak Pier Mirror with marble shelf circa 1890. Measures 25" x 85" overall. With the marble shelf measuring 8" x 25" at a height of 18" The glass mirror is beveled and marked"Durand Process, Patent Silvering Trademark, May(date unreadable) This piece is all original and the oak looks great. The marble has been professionally repaired(a crack) and can barely be seen in the photo. Not noticeable unless you know it's there. The mirror has an area in the lower right corner with silvering issues(spots- see last photo) but this doesn't affect the overall beauty of this piece and is not detected in the reflected image unless you are doing a close-up inspection. Total height is 102 1/2" or 10' 1/2" Width is 42" at top and 34" in center. Depth is 14" at bottom and 6" at top. Has marble bench top.
