ANTIQUE EMPIRE MAHOGANY CLAW FOOT DRESSING MIRROR~CHOICE & BEAUTIFUL
We offer a very beautiful Antique Empire Dressing Mirror. This piece has been in our collection for many years. The feet have the brass capped claw foot on them and everyone is present and secure. The side pieces that screw the mirror on the base have wooden centers with brass backs. They are very special. The finials are perfect as well and give this piece its crowning touch. The mirror is quite foged from age. And could be replaced. We have left it original for the next owner to decide. The piece was being stored and does need a good polish and cleaning. We took advantage of a clear evening when we shot the pictures last week as we had been having a lot of rain. The mirror frame is in very fine condition for a 19th century useful item. It could use some strenghtening on the one side back where the screw goes into the wood. It displays fine. ... moreBut probably would not take much spining of the mirror by someone unaware of its Antiquity, The mirror frame itself and the mirror are both tight and strong. The mirror front does have age cracks in the burled wood from shrinkage over time and age. With all this being said we are selling the mirror As Is due to its Antiquity. It is one of those rare pieces from the Empire period that we are lucky to even find in any condition. There are surely little nicks and dings from over 165 years ofr use. But from the look of this mirror the finish is very good, the Mirror is ready to place and display. The mirror frame stands 65" tall by 26 1/4" wide at the base. The mirror itself is 37 1/2" tall by 22 1/4" wide. Email for any questions or more pictures. We will polish and clean this Mirror before pickup! We have several blanket movers to call upon. A lovely early Victorian mahogany swing dressing mirror.The original mirror plate has only minor signs of age and is held in a turned mahogany frame with turned cross brace and brass retaining knobs. The mahogany base is double inlaid with boxwood stringing and crossbanding around the edge. With two good edge string inlaid and brass handled drawers.The whole mirror rests on four brass foliate stylised feet. All in lovely antique condition with a superb overall patina.
