Fresh to the market and up for your offer comes this RARE and early 19th Century Chippendale period courting mirror. This courting mirror is in exceptional form and well done. It has a small birch or satin wood line inlay that is complete. There are no major breaks or repairs just one small glued ear located on the lower right side and this is so minor almost not worth the mention. It has a solid mahogany frame with applied flame grain mahogany veneer to the frame of glass. The veneer is great in every way. Just some age cracks that is normal with it's age. FABULOUS 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH CHIPPENDALE OVERMANTLE MIRROR With our compliments we are delighted to offer you this fine 19th Century English mahogany Chippendale triple crystal beveled glass over mantle mirror. We would like to take a second to note that these are truly scarce pieces and we haven't seen another one of like quality in over a decade or ever one in this form. This mirror represents the height of decorative arts in formal Chippendale furnishing. The beveled edges of this mirror's crystal panels abutting is simply an awesome effect. It refracts blueish green hues like a diamond. It has a stunning center pierced carved mounted motif of a classic Chippendale sort of Prince of Wales type motif. It has fantastic carved wooden wreaths and floral motifs running all over the place with wonderful top quality gold gilt adorning ... moreall of the carvings and in an incised channel on the mirror. It is further defined by a super gold gilt carved word mirror liner. It has some natural shrinkage. A very small missing piece of the carved garnishments that we defy you to even find. We didn't notice it ourselves until we got it back to the shop. It was treated with kid gloves in its journey back to Massachusetts from New York. With no apology or excuses-find a real Chippendale over mantle mirror. Extremely scarce and comes from an amazing Manhattan home with just nothing but the finest decorative arts and furniture. Vintage Suter's Cherry Wood Chippendale Mirror
This frame measures 30 3/8" in length by 17 1/4" at it's widest point and is in great vintage shape. I believe the wood is cherry. Suter's also makes furniture out of walnut and mahogany. Classic details in this very welcoming mirror. Pineapples are the traditional sign of hospitality. Overall size is 40 X 18 Mirror is 23 X 18 the mirror is beveled. This mirror has no makers marks but is a very nicely made. Note the reinforcements on back. Very clean glass. The frame does have a couple scratches in the surface but they do not go all through the frame. This is a used mirror so it has been moved around and I cannot tell the age.
