ANTIQUE FRENCH PARIS WHITE TEAL SHABBY TRUMEAU MIRROR EGLOMISE TORTOISE SHELL
We are pleased to offer this beautiful mirror. This lovely antique to older vintage mirror features French Trumeau design with a wonderful Tortoise Shell Eglomise pattern above the long mirror. The pattern is done in dark brown with gold highlights and veining under glass. The frame is simple and elegant. Very Parisian. It is solid wood which is painted in white with a very soft French blue or teal on the raised areas of the wooden frame. Each corner piece is a carved floral accent which is painted in gold. The frame has been overglazed with a shimmering, pearlized glaze which is a transluscent white in color. The result is lovely and the colors are very muted and soft. Both the mirror and frame are in very good antique condition with very little evidence of wear or age. Eglomise(reverse painted) federal mirror. The eglomise tablet at the top shows a young man and his dog watching over their field with their flock off in the distance. The tablet is showing some signs of age and paint loss. A little restoration could bring this back to its original glory. This has an all wood back that is still intact. The mirror glass is older as it has some light peeling to the lower layer. The frame has some great bold lines, and beautiful curves. There is a chip to the molding on the bottom right corner, another easy and quick fix. Altogether a really nice and stately piece. Hand-painted eglomise reverse painting on glass titled"Constitution v Guerriere 1812" Depicts battle of the U.S.S. Constitution war ship and the H.M.S. Guerriere which was fought in 1812, ending in a victory for U.S. Navy Commander Isaac Hull, 400 miles southeast of Nova Scotia. The painting and mirror are in good condition and the frame's four corner brass bullseye fleurettes are in good condition and original. A very fine piece of American history and decorative art. The piece measures 22 inches tall and 12 inches wide; mirror measures 12 inches tall and 9 inches wide. While the reverse glass painting measures 7 inches by 9 inches.

House This beautiful antique mirror measures 12" x 21" overall. With a mirror size of 8" x 10" It appears to be all original, with the possible exception of the eye screws and wire on the back. The reverse hand painted top panel is old and slightly wavy glass, and features a sailboat and farm or house landscape highlighted with gold gilt paint. There are some water spots(mostly on the sky) and some loss of paint(mostly on the bottom) The mirror is thin and early, and there is some silver loss along the edges, as well as overall spotting/speckling. The construction is out of mahogany(I think) With antique square cut nails and an old shingle ... morefor a back. The original finish has deepened and crackled as expected with such an early piece. There are some scratches along the sides.marks of long and honest use. I removed the back because something was rattling around(one of the mirror shims) and it looks like someone tried to stabilize the silver loss with foil and lacquer. It doesn't effect the appearance, but I wanted to point it out. Also, the frame is slightly warped. It looks fine on the wall, but you may notice a raised corner when looking from the side. There are no musty smells. In spite of any signs of age or flaws, it's a unique piece that displays beautifully. Please see all pictures for additional details. Fine American Federal Giltwood and Eglomise Panel Antique Mirror, Mass. c. 1810
AMERICAN FEDERAL GILTWOOD EGLOMISE ANTIQUE PIER MIRROR Probably Massachusetts c. 1810 Item# 502GXQ22 A fine work that almost certainly was produced along the North Shore of Massachusetts. The form is elegant and perfectly conforming with the distinctly neoclassical tastes of America during the first years of the 19th century. This form of pier mirror was crafted extensively in both New York City and Massachusetts during this period, primarily Boston and Salem. The crest projects boldly over the mirror with a series of round droplets affixed on wire through the top of the mirror. Above the triple reeded corinthian columns flanking the mirror are wonderful carved acanthus, draping along the curved molding that flanks a carved and gilded panel of a single rose with outflowing foliage. The present example closely relates to a pair of mirrors ... moreheld in the Mabel Brady Garvan Collection(Barquist, f. 182) the acanthus carvings on this mirror clearly being more bold and executed with greater confidence. A reverse painted tablet featuring a Greco-Roman classical scene rests above the old glass of the mirror. We have not removed the backboards to more closely examine the glass. As the backboards appear to be undisturbed; however, it does appear to be a period glass and correct for the piece. The square blocks of the lower corners and rectangular blocks of the upper corners are divided diagonally with panels of light and dark gilding. This very fine acquisition remains preserved in excellent condition- it will be a wonderful addition to any collection of Federal taste. Antique Federal mirror Eglomise w label Kidder and Carter Mass reverse painted
Here is a wonderful mirror from the early 1800's. It still retains the original label reading Kidder and Carter Charlestown Mass. I bought this mirror several years ago at a small estate auction here in Ohio. It is in pretty good condition considering its age. There are small losses of paint to the tablet and the mirror is a little foggy as the pictures will indicate. There is a small block of wood missing on the bottom Right side corner as a picture will show. It can only be noticed from the side and will not be scene from the front. The mirror measures 23 1/2' tall and the mid section is 10 1/2' wide and the top cornice of the mirror is 14 1/2' wide. A very diminutive mirror. This would be a great addition to any collection. Lower 48 states only please.
