This has an oak wooden frame with a top crest of hand carved floral. I believe ... morethis is early 20th century. The mirror has a 1" bevel completely around the oval. The back is sealed with a 1/4" piece of wood not plywood. The last picture shows one of the dovetail joints in the frame. This frame was made from four separate pieces of oak which were joined together at those dovetails to make the complete frame. I think this is another sign of the age of this mirror. It has two holes through the front of the frame which were probably used for mounting. It also has one eyelet on the back which was also used for mounting. The second eyelet is gone. The winning bidder will have to develop their own mounting. The complete mirror and frame is 18-3/4" tall and 26" wide. The mirror is 23" by 13-1/2" This is one of the classiest mirrors I have ever had for sale. Please don't email to ask if we would consider selling if for less. My wife really hates to part with it. Description A FINE ANTIQUE FRENCH CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL& BRONZE OVAL TABLE MIRROR. Dating from the late Nineteenth Century Standing on an easel-back strut. It measures 12" x 7.5" It also has an original hanging ring to the rear if you wish to the utilise it as a hanging wall mirror. For it's size. It is quite heavy ~ weighing 1.5kgs The frame has beautiful Champleve enamel decoration on a French blue ground. And is finished with elaborate ribboned floral decoration to the top and bottom. I think the frame and decoration is made from bronze, possibly originally gilted. The frame and all the embellishments are in very good condition, with no damages. This unusual horseshoe shaped mirror is intended for dresser or table use. It has two 3/4" brass ball feet and a hinged prop-arm stand to hold it upright. It has a 1 3/4" wide frame. I'm not sure of the wood. But it's tight-grained with the original finish& appears to be possibly cherry or mahogany. This mirror stands 12 1/4" tall and is 10 1/2" in width at its widest point. The frame is approximately 3/4" in thickness. The mirror has a 1" bevelled edge and its area measured to the frame rabbet is 7" W. x 8 1/2"H. The prop is 8" L& 1 1/2 W. The mirror shows some small areas of silver loss and the frame has some minor finish damage at the edges. But over-all, it is in very good antique condition. This is an original antique piece. Each panel is 7" by 5" and there are three panels. The glass is beveled. The outside of the panels appears to be embossed leather in a lovely floral design. There is one nail missing which can easily be replaced. Each panel has little brass ball feet for it to stand.I believe it is from the period of 1900 to about 1920. It does have some scratches on the mirror which I am sure is from how old it is. The leather on the backside is hardened from age. There are no cracks or breaks and it has a wonderful bevelling in the mirror which is very hard to picture accurately. It is 8 1/2" across and is about an 1" tall. It is pretty heavy. Antique French Bamboo Wooden Mirror 1800's This old mirror might have seen the face of Vincent Van Gogh as it came from his village of Arles in Provence. It is not silvered but rather coated in Mercury as they were known to do back in the day. It is worn and has lost some of it's coating leaving cloudy spots. It is however authentique and old so we can forgive the"rides" or wrinkles of age n'est-ce pas? It was made to resemble bamboo with the wood having been turned and pieced together with knob and mortise fixings at the corners. There are finials of wooden spools that accent the tips and there is an old original rusted chain that was designed to hold it on a nail longways. The backing is original sheet of cardboard. There are small worm holes in the trim around this cardboard but not in the wood designed to look like ... morebamboo that frames the mirror. It measures 14" by 12" wide by the outer frame and the mirror itself within measures 9" by 6" wide. Hammered brass sheet is decorated with Repousse scrolled and shell motif. With roped trim. Interior mirror is beveled glass. No crazing or scratches on the glass. This piece is very ornate with hand hammered nails. The brass shows great age. With a gorgeous patina. We did not attempt to clean the mirror, to preserve its integrity. Solid wood back appears to be oak or perhaps walnut, unable to identify it with 100% certainty. We found this beauty at an Illinois estate& museum. The home owners were world travelers and avid collectors. Quite a rare piece. We have been unable to find another like it. We believe this piece dates to the 1920's or possibly turn of the century. ANTIQUE FRENCH BEVELLED BRONZE ROCOCO TABLE OR WALL MIRROR WITH CROWN CREST
FATIGUED FRENCH FINDS fatiguedfrenchfinds A superb antique French. Bevelled table or wall mirror in gilt bronze. It is decorated in the typical Rococo style with dolphins, shells, foliate and is finished by an impressive crown at the top. It stands on two feet that take the form of two slightly different dolphins. Dolphins feature strongly in the design. With two at the top and woven into the foliate design that borders the side and base. On the rear there is a substantial ornate bronze easel stand that has had a piece of string tied to it to stop the easel moving too far. This could be removed if you so wished. It also has a bronze fixed link from which to hang it by. In wonderful condition for its great age. Which I believe is the early 1800’s. It has a fissure in the bronze of the easel stand and there is a small fissure in right-hand ... moreouter edge as you look at it, which is 17cms up from the bottom edge. I do not believe that it is the original backing plate as I would of expected it to be a bronze plate but I may be wrong. In parts the gilding has rubbed back to expose the darker bronze beneath. These little flaws do not spoil it in anyway as it is still a great piece and sound. Please study the photographs carefully as them form part of the visual description. Wonderful Victorian triple mirror with beveled glass. Some of silver missing. Enough to make it interested but not so much that you can't use the mirror. Back looks like embossed leather. This is in lovely vintage condition. No cracks in mirrors. Folds up and has good quality brass hardware. These were originally shaving mirrors but they're lovely on a woman's vanity. Decorative and useful too. Folded it measures about 7 1/8" tall and each mirror is about 7 1/8" wide and about 1 5/8" deep. Open it measures about 22 11/16" wide. Thanks for looking!
