Large Fire Wagon Vehicle Cast Iron with rotating front wheels
This piece is about 14 inches long and 8.5 inches high at the highest point. The front wheels for the carriage rotate entirely around and have hooks. Presumably for the horses(not available) There is also a moving bell on the wagon. It looks like it could be a restored antique. But I am no expert. It could also be a modern reproduction. Looks hand-made, with no identifying marks. It was part of my late uncle's collection, and thus its history is unknown and its origins cannot be guaranteed. No returns.

Very nice example of a pair of authentic early 1800s cast iron fire dogs. These fire dogs or andirons have the distinctive striped federal shield. A common motif from this period. These fire dogs have been cleaned and ready for use. Some surface pitting and wear from use but in overall good condition considering their age. Designed by Thomas Jeckyll(English. 1827-1881) Made by Barnard, Bishop& Barnards, Norfolk Iron Works c1875(UK) Thomas Jeckyll is the architect of the famous"Peacock Room" which is installed at the Freer Gallery of Art in Washington DC until December 2015. It features a swiveling bottom grate and decorative lion's paw front pieces. The previous owner had it inside a Thomas Jeckyll"Cast Moth Signature" fireplace surround that was covered by a marble mantle via a recent remodel. He did not want to dismantle the marble work to reclaim the rest of the surround and was only selling the basket. The only flaw is a flat spot worn on one of the back wheels. Antique French Rural Chic Fire Fender ~ Black with Brass ~ Cast Iron Foxes !
An unusual and very charming antique French fire fender. Dating from the early 1900s. with a black metal front topped with a brass rail and with hollow cast iron ends. each featuring a fox atop a decorative stand with swirly brass ornament. Although at first glance it seems the foxes are from the same mould. They are in fact different sculptures. with different body shapes and stances and on different backgrounds. A delightful detail. So as to fit a variety of fireplace widths. The fender extends by means of two bars and turn screws on the back and measures 70cm when closed and 87cm when at full width. It stands 11.5 cm high to the fox’s back. The brass knobs can also be moved towards the ends of the brass rail by unscrewing two tiny bolts at the back and rescrewing through two more holes in the base. I have done this to see which looks the ... morebetter. and I think it looks best with the rail extending a little as in the photos. A old piece. This is in nice vintage and functional condition although it does show signs of its history as is to be expected.The brass rail is very slightly bent upwards with a one or two dents and scratches in places.and the seam at the back is not fully closed all the way along. although this cannot be seen when in use. Please scroll through all my ten photos for details. Previously a little rusty I have cleaned up the iron parts with black lead grate polish and given the rail a quick going over with a metal polish. although not so much as to make it look like“new” A lovely antique fender. which will perfectly into any country house interior. in front of the fireplace or even as a decorative piece on top of a rustic wood burning stove. Victorian Cast Iron Fire Place Tongs Double Heart Design
Here is a beautiful cast iron Victorian fire place tong. It has a double heart stamped out in the tong hands and has a rake end. There is minimal rust and one spot at the top of the arms where the cast iron broke. It appears that the mold was thin there. Like a bubble burst. The only damage to the tongs is the finial has been broken off. It must have happened a while ago as the broken face of it is worn just as much as the rest of its body. And we honestly can't tell age, some time within the last 100 years. The drop in log holders indicate earlier rather than later. One of a kind? We couldn't find another pair anywhere on a search. No markings. Solid. Not hollow. Some pitting, minimal rust and possibly have a newish coat of heat resistant paint VERY heavy and beefy log holders. Weigh a lot and we're not going to try to unlodge the holders- like drop in rails for beds. I found these old cast iron dachshund andiron/ firedogs at an estate sale in the far back corner buried in a garage. Great pieces that you won't see too often. They do have some rust and corrosion as you can see in the pictures. One of the dogs has a broken tail. Which is a bummer, but it you wanted to use these that is the end that would be in the fire so you wouldn't notice it. These pieces are very heavy for their size weighing a combined weight of 57lbs. And we honestly can't tell age, some time within the last 100 years. The drop in log holders indicate earlier rather than later. One of a kind? We couldn't find another pair anywhere on a search. No markings. Solid. Not hollow. Some pitting, minimal rust and possibly have a newish coat of heat resistant paint VERY heavy and beefy log holders. Weigh a lot and we're not going to try to unlodge the holders- like drop in rails for beds. Cahill. Antique andirons. This auction is for a beautiful pair of Arts and Craft era. Cast iron andirons/firedogs. They were manufactured by the Cahill Iron works Co. of Chattanooga, TN sometime in the 1920's. These beauties measure approx. 18.5" tall- 9.75" across and 19' deep. They are in great condition. There is surface rust present. This is shown in the photo's. Also in pic#10 please note where the hole where the rust has gone through. This is on the middle leg of the back bracket, not the andiron itself. These are true antique Arts and Crafts era fireplace andirons! They would make a lovely addition to your home! In 1882 Petter showed his Nautilus Grate at the Manchester Smoke Abatement Exhibition and after Queen Victoria installed Nautilus fire grates at Balmoral Castle and Osbourne House. Demand for them grew substantially. The fire grate has a scrolled top and shaped sides with the most fantastic detail to the cast iron. The edge is also bound on brass, the cast around the basket has fire patterned detail, it has 2 rails across the front hold the coals in place and striking brass finials at the front, the grate also has brass rails at the front to hold fireside implements.
