This is a very rare pair of large antique victorian copper and brass fireplace andirons. made in mid to late 1800's they are made from extremely thick copper and brass and are extremely heavy. in a victorian style with exquisite detailing throughout. the base if footed with large routed ornate feet and the center has a heavily embossed female face and a fleur-de-lis underneath. it is very thick with bubble and floral trim. the base meets the large copper globe with a ribbed brass section. the globe shaped body is made from very thick copper and also is very ornate with demonic faces connected with hung fruit. Fireplace Fender - Antique 1800's Brass and Plate Victorian Ball & Stick
TIME TO MOVE THIS VERY NICE ITEM- NEW LOWER PRICE! A very nice-looking fireplace fender from my family home. Built in 1895. I would guess the fender itself was"original equipment" in the house, especially comparing it with the other fenders that came from same house. But it could be 1890's- 1910's, I am guessing. Only minimally polished in order to clean up. The spindles or uprights are solid brass and are not magnetic. The top two tubular cross pieces are brass plate. The base is not magnetic or is only very slightly. Maybe due to the iron brackets and screws underneath. This piece has a lovely scale to it and only has minimal dings and bumps- no serious dents and no cracks or bad stains. Possibly European, or if American made at least in the European style& tradition. Dating to the 1870's-90's, in gothic or midevial or renaissance revival style. Part of the aesthetic movement. Made of stamped brass sheeting nailed over molid wood, with a slanted top featuring relief panels depicting scenes of midevial or renaissance characters. Each side is different and individually hand crafted. Reproductions would have the same scene repeating. Each side of the box tells a different part of a story. Came from an old New York City hotel. 20 1/2" tall at highest point 22 1/2" long 15 3/4" wide Top has group of people in woods by pond. For sale is a solid brass peacock fan fireplace screen. It is an art nouveau cameo style screen and would look awesome in many home styles. When not unfolded the screen measures about 27 inches tall by 7 1/2 inches wide(base) When fully extended it is about 37 inches wide. It has great Victorian detailing in the panels for the fan part and in the body of the piece(see pictures) In is in great vintage shape with a shiny antique brass patina. Here is a lovely antique cast brass peacock fireplace screen that opens with four leaves on each side to a width of about 36" There is a figure of a profile surrounded by leaves. Flowers and swaths in the center section. It stands stands 27" high. Including the handle. The base is decorative and heavy and measures about 11" wide by 7" deep. Photos show front and back side. They feature lion heads with claw feet and acanthus leaves. The twisted spiral accents add extra detail. They are 24"tall. 11" wide and 19" from front to back. They will ship unassembled. Fabulous antique Victorian or Craftsman style jamb hook. The detail on this is truly a work of art! I bought a pair of these from an estate sale in a lovely old Victorian home. They were on each side of a fireplace. Unfortunately. I broke one of the arms off the other one while trying to straighten it, so I was very careful with this one when polishing it. It could possibly be repaired, so I will include the broken one to the winner if they want it. But I do want to warn you that with the age and constant exposure to heat over the many years it has made the brass a bit fragile. Antique VICTORIAN Brass CAMEO Fireplace fan peacock FIRE SCREEN
Cast Brass folding peacock style fireplace fan. It folds up and locks shut with a small bar on each side. Bars are slightly bent but do lock fans up. Brass is in very good condtion.no corrosion anywhere. Fans are in good condition and open and close easily. This fan has been in my closet for more than 15 years. Brass has not been cleaned in that time. The filial at the top turns sideways to lock fans. For easy handling. It is quite heavy to pick up, and sturdy. If not THE best peacock fan folding brass fireplace screen we've seen or handled. Weighs in at 24 lbs. solid cast brass(most newer ones are 10 lbs or so. Center piece features a Bacchus face(kind of like Green Man or Northwind image) we think the God of Wine since there are grapes below, Ca. 1900-1910. In the Art Nouveau style but not marked. Could be English, we found in Florida from New York dealer, Stands 29" tall. 42" wide fully opened. Base is 7" tall, 12" wide. No breaks. Cracks, other issues. Brass has wonderful mellow patina, which of course we didn't touch. Note that the center part on one side has a reddish tinge in the center medallion which is most ... morelikely from the heat of the blazing fire. What we really like about this screen is that it's stable and flexible to fit in front of most modern fireplaces. It's always hard to find one that JUST fits the opening. Here you have some leeway. Shipping weight on this is going to be about 28-30 lbs. Needs extra cardboard and a really sturdy box with heavy walls. We recommend FedEx.
