1800's STONE FIREPLACE MANTLE HEARTH RUSTIC CABIN LODGE PRIMITIVE ROCK FIRE
Old 1800’s Stone Mantle Hearth This amazing stone mantle(or could be used as a hearth) came out of our 150 year old Kentucky cabin. The hand laid stone fireplace and chimney were a piece of art and I just can’t imagine how they were able to lay the heavy stone to the roof. Much of the stone used in the fireplace was massive as is this beautiful mantle. We’ve used it as a bench for a while but it seems like a waste for it to be used this way. You don’t find old stone mantles like this anymore. Somewhat like the hand hewn beams in the cabin. It also looks like this 1800’s mantle was also hand hewn/carved. The stone is a beautiful white/gray color with a little bit of a rust and darker gray in a few places. You can see on one side of the mantle old soot from years ago. It will likely clean off but I’ve kept it original. I’ve tried to capture ... morethe color in my pictures. Approximate measurements for the mantle are: 56” long. 14” wide on one end. 14.5” wide in the center and 8” wide on the other end. It is very heavy and a handful for two strong men to move. Weighing this beast for shipment is the hard part but the men that moved it estimated 600-700 pounds. We will use that weight when getting a freight estimate. The mantle will be carefully crated and shipped to the buyer in the safest and most economical manner. Please call if you’d like us to check on shipment to your location. This auction is for the large stone mantle only. Not the rocks that the mantle sets on in the pictures. Man-121 Design We have made and sold over 4000 mantles over the last 15 years! The mantles shown are all hand made in the USA. Old World mantle design with a Tuscany feel. This mantle can be made larger or smaller(up to 80” wide and as narrow as 56” overall width) The leg height is adjustable to lower the inside opening. Or increase the overall height of the mantle. This particular mantle was designed lower for a TV to go above. It is made out of a proprietary high strength concrete stone mixture that is approximately 7000 psi(most materials in the industry are approximately 4000psi) We also use an extensive fiber reinforcement material in our stone mixture that makes for a VERY strong material. The texture can be made smooth(shown in pictures) or more rustic. The color can be made lighter or darker(limestone to Travertine) with or without ... moreholes. This posting shows examples of darker and lighter stone(smooth and rustic) The cast stone can also be stained to make it look more Rustic Old World. Tuscan and or Mediterranean(there are a world of possibilities) The trim pieces that go around fire box and inside of mantle are available(same stone material) But not included in this auction.
