We are pleased to offer this antique fireplace surround. This is a very nice piece and in very good condition. This set includes the fireplace surround. Summer cover and atta. ched grate. The fireplace has a very textured surface which is gilded and is a coppery gold in color with black accents. The insert grate has columnal design which is reminiscent of the Greek Parthenon or Roman Pantheon. The fireplace has strong French Empire characteristics and feel. The removable summer cover door has a knob on each side. This unit is in very good condition with minimal evidence of age. The gilded finish is still very rich on the back of the summer cover door(see photo 9) There are no areas of rusting and the fireplace is structurally quite nice. There are numbers on the back. I've owned several screen similar to this one over the years.but NONE have been as heavy as this solid brass piece. Standing about 28" tall and opening to just over 38" wide. This piece weighs in at OVER 23 POUNDS. Being from the late Victorian/Nouveau era, this piece has all the lines and designs popular of the time. GODDESS DIANA / ARTEMIS FABULOUS ANTIQUE CAST IRON FIRE BACK or FIREPLACE DOOR
This is an amazing antique Neoclassical figural cast iron fireplace cover and surround. Dating from the late 1800’s. It still has remnants of the original paint I believe, she is fabulous. It is grooved at the top where it slipped into the top of the fireplace surround and the knob is at the bottom. We believe this to be all Original! It features the Greek goddess Diana(also known as Artemis) drawing an arrow from her quiver, hunting a stag; both Diana and the stag are surrounded by foliate and floral detail. The scene has an oval border with volutes and laurel leaves in the corners and an anthemion on either side. The surround is draped with bellflower garlands, with ribbons on each corner and a palmette in the center. This set is in very good antique condition, with some rust and paint loss. Rare 18th century raised panel room end from Woodbury 18th Century home. This paneled wall measures 204" 17'wide and 92" 7'10"tall(not including the crown molding) It is from the upstairs bedroom of the Stiles house in Woodbury CT which was built in 1742. It is complete except for the closet door to the left of the fireplace opening is missing as well as the door jambs from both doors. The only piece not pictured is the original crown molding which also comes with the room end. Fireplace opening is 40" wide x 38" tall. It has the original grain paint under several coats of later paint. I can get it hand stripped for the purchaser for an additional fee. unfortunately we do not have the ability to save the grain paint. I know there are restorers out there that have the ability to save the original paint. But ... moreit is not something I can offer. I would be glad to answer any questions you may have on this item.
