Hessian Soldier Andirons, Cast Iron
These are cast iron. Hession Soldier Andirons. I am not certain of the age but do know they were in my grandparents house in the late 50's so they are at least 60 years old, likely older. The soldiers stand 20" tall and are 20.5" front to back(the back legs are approx 19" long and welded to the back of the soldier) It appears someone attempted to repaint these but since they have looked like this since the late 50's, it was done sometime prior to that. Other than the paint, they are in very good condition, no cracks or breaks that I can see. Unfortunately due to the weight, I am offering these for local pick-up only. They are located in Randolph. PAIR OF ANTIQUE HESSIAN SOLDIER ANDIRON VICTORIAN ERA ORIGINAL PAINT 16" FIGURAL
Up for auction is a pair of antique Hessian Soldier andirons. The figures are cast iron and stand 16" tall. The supports are 16" long. They retain nearly all of their original paint. I have not cleaned these in any way other than dusting them. I think the colors would really pop with a good cleaning. I don't see a maker or a foundry mark on them. These are very heavy. ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY SOLID BRONZE HESSIAN SOLDIER FIREPLACE ANDIRONS
Outstanding 19th century antique solid bronze Revolutionary War Hessian soldier fireplace andirons in excellent condition. Original patina with forged iron support legs. These measure 20" tall x 9" wide at the feet and weigh over 40 pounds. The bronze Soldiers are up to 2" thick at the widest point. Support legs are 18" long and have some expected and customary extremely light surface rust. One leg has an ever so slight twist from heat mentioned only for the sake of accuracy. This auction is for a Pair of solid bronze Hessian soldier andirons best victorian- they have bronze legs as well. They are 19.25" tall. 19" deep as seen. In very good shape- some paint splatter on them, will need to be cleaned off. Each weighs 30lbs. There are no markings on these that I can find as far as manufacturer, Thank you. Up for auction today is a pair of vintage pre owned cast iron Hessian andirons. They are each 16" tall x 8" wide at their feet x 24" long end to end. The height of the back of the dogs is 7 3/4" They are structurally sound. The soldiers are in good condition with a little wear to the finish and minor corrosion to one leg. These are a pair of 19th century solid bronze Hessian soldier andirons for the fireplace. The rear support leg on one of the irons is shorter than the other. Most likely missing from an entire piece(which can be seen in the photo) Each andiron is around 20" tall and 9" wide from boot to boot. They contain a Blackened finish. There is no surface rust and the andirons are in decent condition, with the exception of the difference in the rear support leg. Package would be very heavy and is north of 40 pounds. Hessian Soldier Andirons late 19th c, signed and dated
This is a wonderful pair of fine Hessian Soldier Andirons from the late 19th Century. The casting on these soldiers is of the finest quality as can easily be seen when photos are magnified for viewing. The form is right down to the large eye openings so that the flames show through the eyes. Facial feature are clear and distinctive as are the rest of the details. The appearance of rust in the small photos is greatly exaggerated. The rust is minimal and has not altered the fine lines and details of the andirons with the exception of the side of one leg which has small indentation which is too small to photograph. Should the owner care to restore the andirons to their original condition it is a very simple process. Should they be used they will darken. CAST IRON & STEEL HESSIAN SOLDIER FIREPLACE TOOLS & STAND
This is an as is set of cast iron and steel Hessian Soldier Fireplace Tools. I do not know the exact age or maker; the only marks are on the bottom of the stand: a number 25 and an L2; the soldiers seem to be marked with hash/slash type marks on their backs. Soldier finials measure 6" long and 2" wide. The stand sits 29 1/2" high with finial. Base is about 6.5" X 8.5" The soldier finials are in good/very good condition with some loss to the original paint. see photos) I would bid on this item as though you were bidding on just the finials(if you would like just them let me know immediately after the auction to save yourself some postage cost) the tools have numerous issues and I am not certain if they are original to the finials. The log tongs are missing an entire half of the tool; the poker has barely enough thread ... moreto hold the finial on; the shovel has a slightly loose fit; the half tong has a finial with a double sided screw inside of it holding the 2 pieces together. It looks like it will come out of the finial but I am not sure; the finial on the stand just sits on it loosely without screwing on because it is too big for the threads; the brace on the stand does not fit tightly in the proper position but I think this could be adjusted; some spots of surface rust on the shovel and base(see photo) Again. If you are only interested in the finials and possibly some, but not all of the other parts, let me know immediately after the auction ends and I can make a postage cost adjustment.
