These low profile andirons sit directly on the ground and each measures 12 1/2" long x 2 3/4" wide x 6 1/2" high. They are in very good condition with no cracks and one has a rough spot on the top edge where maybe it wasn't cast properly. Here is a lovely antique cast brass peacock fireplace screen that is fully functioning. It opens out with 4"leaves" on each side to a width of about 36" wide. There is a figure of a profile surrounded by leaves. Flowers and swaths in the center section, which stands 27" high. Including the handle. The base is decorative and heavy and measures about 11" wide by 7" deep. Photos show front and back side. On the back side. There is what looks like residue from cleaning? we tried to remove it with water only and it did not fully come off. We are afraid that if we start cleaning with brass cleaner we might compromise the patina and risk having part of it look shiny and part not. This operates by pulling the leaves open on either side. I purchased this beautiful fireplace cover from a Virginia estate. This cast iron fireplace cover is unusually heavy weighing approximately 55 pounds. Both pieces have been have painted by the former owner; there are some chips in the paint. The cast iron is approximately 1/8” thick. The surround weighs 23 pounds. The dimensions of the surround are approximately 30 ½” wide and 30 ½” tall. There are two small cracks on the inner opening. Also. The lower left bracket is broken off and the top of surround has been sawed off to fit the metal to an existing fireplace(see pictures) The summer cover/insert weighs 22 pounds. Antique Small Brass Fireplace Tool Set Jester's Head Tops Figural Vintage Rare
Extremely unusual and very cute. Small antique figural fireplace tool set made of brass. The set consists of a main stand with three tools that hang from the top. There is a cute small shovel. A brush and tongs. The finial on the main stand is a jester's head that looks kind of medieval and very detailed. The top of the shovel and brush is also the same figural jester head with a loop at the top of the middle point of his hat so that it can hang from the hook. The tongs look like a large pair of scissors and are very heavy for their size. The highest point on the set which is the actual stand with the jester on its top measures 17" tall. The shovel is 9 1/2" high. The brush is also 9 1/2" and the tongs are 10" Condition is good vintage considering its age. The round base of the main stand is open at the bottom and ... morehas a few minor knicks or bents here and there. Not that noticeable. The brush has lost some of its bristles on the bottom from previous use, and the shovel and tongs have blackened areas towards their bottom part from previous use in the fire. We have not attempted to clean anything on the set and we are selling it in its as found antique condition. The tongs also have a problem at their joint area where they do not close properly. Antique Brass Figural Dolphin Fireplace Andirons Victorian Nautical Navy 13.25"T
This pair of antique fireplace andirons are made of brass and feature a pair of classic dolphins. The casting on these were beautifully executed! The brass dolphins measure 13 1/4" tall. 6 3/4" wide, and 1" thick. The fire dogs/log holders are screwed into the backs of the brass dolphins, as shown, and measure 14" long from the backs of the dolphins, and are made from 1" square solid metal. The log holders appear to have been glued into the backs of the brass dolphins, as I see some dried glue residue on, and around, the threads. One of the brass dolphins is marked upon the backside"PAT APL'D FOR" but I cannot find any other markings. I attribute these to Bradley& Hubbard, as I have found many other marked examples that are the same form and size. Complete original cast iron fireplace surround and cover. In very good condition with light rust in areas. It appears to be george and martha washington but not sure. Antique Victorian Ornate Figural Cast Iron Fireplace Front/Insert/Surround
Ornate late nineteenth century cast iron fireplace insert. Curved front with two faces surrounded by a garland. Overall in good condition, rust present but no irreversible damage(could be sanded and either repainted or powdercoated) 19-3/4" wide, 13-1/16" high, 3-11/16" at the deepest point.
