Penn Antique Restoration. 63"x50" Antique Red Oak Victorian Fireplace Mantel Exquisite. Antique, solid, red oak fireplace mantel salvaged from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The mantel has an exquisite Victorian style design. Each leg has a round. Tapered, half-fluted column with round base and ornate capital. Notice the carved acanthus leaves on the capitals, and their reeded sides-what great accents! The body has lovely acanthus and volute motif in the center sitting atop a stepped ledge with dental molding. The crown molding, directly below the shelf also has steps and dental detail. Restoration: At the point of salvage. The mantel was covered under several layers of paint, and a thick layer of stain and varnish. The body is made up of 2 boards, and the 2 boards separated from each other at some point(see photos under"Prior ... moreto restoration" In order to thoroughly remove the paint. Stain and finish, we had to take apart the whole mantel. This is so heavy so it has to have cast iron or brass iron and the sides and other places looks to have a bronze or brass underneath but can't tell for sure what it is. This item is very heavy. Just was wiped off-not cleaned-so all the original patina remains. Measurements: 24 1/2" w x 30" h. The rim is 3/4" thick. Penn Antique Restoration. 56"x81" Antique Restored Carved Victorian Oak Fireplace Mantel Gorgeous. Antique, fireplace mantel salvaged from an old plantation home in Central Georgia. It is made entirely of red oak(no veneer) and dates back to the 1880's. The lower half has a fairly straightforward design with a few accents including a turned. Tapered column on each leg; a carved starburst motif above each column; and chamfered edges on both sides of each leg. The upper half has 4 shelves(2 long and 2 short) a recessed panel in the center contoured with egg and dart molding and an oval opening for a mirror; 2 turned. Tapered columns with a carved plinth block in the middle; and a lovely crown with curved ends. Glass: The original mirror had very little silvering left. So we didn't include it. The mantel will need a new mirror(flat ... moreor beveled) which we could order and install for you. If you would like a bigger mirror, we could remove the whole panel(the area in between the ornate molding) and install a rectangular mirror. The mantel was covered under many layers of paint, and some parts were broken or missing(mostly decorative appliqués) We acquired the mantel in pieces. This facilitated the stripping process. But made putting it back together very difficult. We reassembled the mantel using modern glue, nails, and drywall screws. We also added hardwood stiffeners to the back of the mantel. Now, it's stronger and sturdier than ever! Condition: Considering that the mantel is about 130 years old. It's in amazing condition! You will find the typical cosmetic blemishes: nicks, scrapes, scratches, and small nail holes. However, to the antique enthusiast, those are character marks not flaws. There are no structural threats(i.e. breaks, cracks, rotting, etc. Finishing: All this beauty needs now is a nice stain and/or finish. We've finished many mantels before(see last 5 photos)

ATTENTION*Please read shipping information*Fine late 1800's or early 1900's solid oak fireplace mantel. Heavy and solid. This mantel features a carved head surrounded by flowers in the center just under the shelf flanked by carved paw feet and legs on each side. The carving on this piece is absolutely stunning! This piece has been refinished at some point. Must have been redone some time ago as there are very tiny/sparse white paint specks on the top. You have to look closely to see them. Other flaws include a piece of trim missing off of the top of the right leg, a very small piece of trim missing from the square part at the bottom of the right front leg, a hole was drilled just to the right of the right leg which was probably for mounting purposes and there is a 1" long piece of trim missing on the top left side towards the ... moreback just under the top shelf. All minor and none detract from the over all appearance. You can view them in the many pictures below. Over all this mantel measures about 61 1/8" wide X 11 1/2" deep X 48" tall. The opening size is 41 1/2" wide X 39 1/4" tall. SHIPPING/PICK UP NOTE: Shipping is NOT free as the invoice will indicate. Fortunately. The slate surround and slate hearth came out without a fuss and are included. The finish appears to be original. As the shellac/varnish is crackled with a great patina. There are a few spots of over-paint here and there where it met the wall. There are also a few holes and nicks here and there. The large hole on the right(red arrow) is for the flue control handle(which is also included) ... moreand part of it's mechanism. The flue flap itself is not included. Check all photos for condition. There are pieces of base trim from the house that are included to finish off the bottom of the mantel's legs. They were trimmed out in place after the mantel was installed. The base trim pieces will need to be cut to size and installed by a carpenter. The original wooden trim surround for the hearth is also included, though it's in rough shape compared to the rest of the pieces. The slate pieces are in good shape overall. With some wear on their faces from many years of heat and use. The hearth stone has scuffs and wear, as well as a few chips here and there. Check all photos for condition. The mantle you are viewing came from an old victorian house. The wood carving is amazing. It is a reminder of the times when wood working was a common art. The mantle is two-tier, and has a mirror. The mirror may looks to be a later addition. Here is a great Mantel. It dates to around 1790. The top board is like a federal mirror in form. Has a great carving in center. White paint over great blue. The white will come off pretty easy. You can chip it away with finger nail. Outside measures 67" wide and 57 1/2" high and the inside measures 41 3/4" high and 53 1/2" wide. Penn Antique Restoration. 20" H Pair Antique Brass Fireplace Andirons. These beautiful antique andirons were made around the first half of the previous century and were salvaged from Northeastern PA. They have cast iron shanks. And heavy, cast brass guards. Unlike many lesser quality andirons available on eBay; the guards on these andirons are not plates or halves-the design you see on the front is the design you see on the back. Each guard has curved legs and a bulbous. Tapered body with 2 cups and a solid finial on top. The shanks, which hold the logs, curve to the sides of the guards at which point they continue straight, away from the guards. There is a brass plate covering the curved portion of each shank. Notice the delicate brass finials adorning the shanks at the point where their curves end—what lovely accents! The beauty of ... morethe design is enhanced by a wonderful. Rich patina. A beautiful Quartersawn Oak Fireplace Mantel with bevel edged Mirror. Circa 1880. We are pleased to present this fabulous antique Quartersawn Oak Fireplace Mantel for your consideration. In the Arts& Crafts/ Mission style. The Mantel features a large beveled edge mirror above the shelf, along with a variety of decorative touches including attractive striping of the wood grain on the two vertical columns. The Mantel has overall dimensions of 82 inches high. 60-1/2 inches wide, and 14 inches deep. We estimate the weight at 150 pounds- two people can move it with effort, although its large size makes it somewhat torquey to handle. The mirror measures 17-1/2 inches high by 29-3/8 inches wide. The shelf is 44 inches wide and 7-1/2 inches deep. At the front. The opening for the fireplace is 39 inches high by 41-1/2 inches wide. At the back ... moreedge, the opening is 50 inches wide. Picture 5 shows where the"front" and"back" measurements were taken. Measuring from the wall, to the back edge of the"front" point, the depth is 5-1/4 inches. Faults are few and minor with this antique fixture. The silvering on the mirror shows only minor deterioration. With a few tiny black spots, and some larger areas of crazing where it still reflects. There are a few small burn marks(see pictures 3 and 4) but they only affect the surface finish. There is one noticeable bump to the front edge of the shelf(seen in picture 10) but it is not very large. Other than these issues, the Mantel is in fine shape. We rate the overall condition as very good. This is a gorgeous Arts& Crafts/ Mission style Oak Mantel. It would make a wonderful decorative piece for your remodeling project! Matching Pair of Fireplace Mantels Tiger Oak Mantel Quartersawn Red Oak Mantle
Up for sale is an absolutely gorgeous pair of Victorian mantels from a building erected in the 1860's. There is not a doubt in my mind that you will never come across a pair like this again. These are made from quarter sawn red oak which appears to be old growth. The grain and fleck from the quartersawing on these will take your breath away. Columns are solid. With carved ionic capitals, and the corbels for the shelf contain hand carved leaf patterns. There are many different carved molding styles present, and they retain the original beveled mirrors. These are an exact matching set. For being 150 years old they are in great shape. But they do show some wear. These would be best stripped due to years of being Murphy Oil-d. Speaking of stripped did I mention these came from an old Victorian brothel? Either way, with age they also have ... moreaccumulated their fair share nicks an bumps. The mantel on the left has had some glue joint separation, so the mirror was removed to prevent damage. Although they are solid, and can easily be installed as is, I would recommend a restoration consultant help you with the process. Man-121 Design We have made and sold over 4000 mantles over the last 15 years! The mantles shown are all hand made in the USA. Old World mantle design with a Tuscany feel. This mantle can be made larger or smaller(up to 80” wide and as narrow as 56” overall width) The leg height is adjustable to lower the inside opening. Or increase the overall height of the mantle. This particular mantle was designed lower for a TV to go above. It is made out of a proprietary high strength concrete stone mixture that is approximately 7000 psi(most materials in the industry are approximately 4000psi) We also use an extensive fiber reinforcement material in our stone mixture that makes for a VERY strong material. The texture can be made smooth(shown in pictures) or more rustic. The color can be made lighter or darker(limestone to Travertine) with or without ... moreholes. This is a beautifully crafted Arts& Crafts style mantle and mirror from an historic home in Annapolis. Maryland. It has been carefully handled and is ready to be picked up and installed in a new home- it's one big piece that's perfectly intact, no scratches or anything.
