Andirons, tool holder with four tools and log holder/carrier with handle. In each piece the heavy yet intricate scrollwork and the artistic twist of the metal is repeated. The squirrels in the andiron design will be enjoying the acorn they hold to their mouths. The blacksmith who forged these squirrels has them perched with their famous bushy tails in full display. Here is a set of antique cast iron George Washington andirons. Complete with log holders. The front figural piece is 20 inches tall, and 9.25 inches wide at the base. Thickness varies from 1 1/8" at the base to 1/2" at the top. The log supports attach to the front uprights by sliding into a bracket; they extend 17.5 inches to the rear. There is some erosion of the brackets so that the log supports do not fit tightly and will need a shim if they are put to use in a fireplace. I have carefully cleaned off surface rust and dirt on the uprights(wire brushed) There was no evidence of any former paint. The set has no cracks or breakage. There are small holes in the area below the back bracket which may have been for pins to anchor the log supports. This is definitely a very old set judging from the wear and patina. Antique cast iron Owl Andirons marked ROSTAND 407 E. Excellent condition. Very clean. Minimal rust on the back sides. No rust or imperfections on the front. It is very rare to find a set in such great condition! One of the glass eyes has a small crack in it. But no chip. It is not very noticeable. The eyes appear to follow you as you move about the room! And they glow when in front of a roaring fire! They appear a bit shiney in the photos; they were recently cleaned& rubbed with a bit of mineral oil.

In pretty good condition with original vibrant colors-have no major damage but do have a few light scratches and burns(yet rather mild to what is usually seen with these) The Andirons are 20" high. 18" long, and 11" wide(at their feet) Tools and Tool Holder are 31" high. Vtg Set Virginia Metalcrafters Dolphin Andirons Brass & 3 Fireplace Tools Rare
From a recent estate sale. This is a fantastic brass and wrought iron fireplace set made by Virginia Metalcrafters. They are signed in the back of the andirons under the wrought iron dogs. They are done in the stylized form of dolphins. The main dolphins are brass and the smaller dolphins are cast iron. Even harder to find are the original tools. I have 3 of the original tools with no stand. They also have stylized dolphins that perfectly match the andirons. I have not found the mark on the tools, however, I am sure they are correct for the set. Someone tried to polish an area at the bases of the brass andiron dolphins. No actual damage, the fronts of the andirons can swivel partly as well.

This is a stunningly large pair of late 19th century Victorian bronze and cast iron fireplace andirons. they are very ornate with intricate detailing and have a wonderful patina from age. they are nicely footed with curved legs and topped with a very pointy bronze finial. the whole shaft is very detailed and has many sections with floral detailing done in high relief, the back wood rest are large and made from cast iron. They are actually a bit different so one of them was replaced at one time but very hard t notice. they each measure 24 inches tall by 11 1/4 inches wide by 20 1/2 inches back to front. they are high quality andirons which have a lovely patina from age. Up for auction is this wonderful set of fireplace tools along with the andirons. There are eight pieces including tongs. The andirons are 17" tall and 9" wide at the base. I do not know exactly how old they are but many years and well made with lots of use left. This set is very old. Has a brass finish, ornate and very heavy iron. I have had it a long time and it has been stored. You can see from my pictures that it needs to be cleaned but it is gorgeous when polished. Antique American Revolution Hessian Soldiers Andirons & Iron Fireplace Tool Set
You are bidding on a set of antique hand-forged American Revolution Hessian soldier andirons and fireplace tool set. The andirons measure 19 1/2" tall x 10 5/8" wide x 19 1/2" deep. The tools measure 27 3/4" tall with the top 5 1/4" being soldier figures. The base of the tool stand measures 6 1/2" x 9" Andirons have a paint job of unknown age and it is in good antique condition- some areas may have been retouched. Paint on the tools appears to be original. Andirons are stamped as photographed. Tools and base are unmarked. Tool set includes two intact tools(a fire iron and an ash shovel) and one in need of repair(the tongs) they have a clean break as photographed. The andirons total 20 pounds. And the tool set and stand weigh just over 10.
