this is an exquisite pair of very large solid wrought iron gothic fireplace andirons. they have exquisite ornate detailing and made from solid cast iron. Very heavy. they have a nice ball top with a swirl shaft and a detailed curved iron base. they are in good shape. one measures 20 x 19 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches very heavy. One of the back cast iron parts is a bit short and missing a couple inches but does not damage the integrity or look of the pieces. I found these andirons in Historic Lexington Missouri founded in 1822. Description Super fabulous pair of antique brass andirons-chenets with ornate designs of swags with lions heads on the bottom of the large end and flame top finials. Each measures 20" wide and 17-1/2" tall and extend back 6" They are heavy. Each weighs 17 pounds. I have shown them with a can of coke so you can see how large and impressive they are. Details are shown on the top under the flame and on the sides. The andirons have recently been polished but still retain a deep, rich patina. There is a hook on the back of the bar I have shown in the last picture- there may have been a bar as part of the set at one time. Pair of elegant Early Antique Brass Andirons* Ball tops on baluster shafts. Spurred cabriole legs and slipper feet with conforming brass ball-top log stops. Wrought Iron Supports. They are in un-polished condition and would shine nicely if the buyer decides to do so. I was unable to locate, or identify a makers mark though it is possible there is one under all the soot build up or elsewhere. As you can see in the pictures the wrought iron beams are entirely hand forged. They measure 13" High, 9 1/4" wide at the feet, and 15 1/2" Long(measurements are slightly rounded since they are both slightly different) The top ball is about 2 3/4" diameter. The log stops are about 2 3/8" tall. They are quite HEAVY. Condition: lots of surface tarnish/soot stains etc. Some nicks and scratches as well. FINE ANTIQUE CHIPPENDALE STYLE MELON TOP ON BALL AND CLAW FEET BRASS ANDIRONS These are nice large brass andirons on ball and claw feet made in the Chippendale style of the 1700's. These were made in the late 1800's to early 1900's. These andirons feature a raised design of oak leaf and vines. The brass shows wear and has some light corrosion throughout. They could use a good polish as I have left them in the untouched condition. The size is 20.25" high by 12" wide at the feet and a full 18 3/8" deep. You will not go wrong with this set. Period Federal Colonial 1700s Antique Brass Double Lemon Top Andirons Fire Dogs
This is a set of genuine 18th or early 19th century Double Lemon Top brass andirons with spurred legs and ball feet. As can can see in the picture one of the andirons is missing it's middle brass"plinth" section. The other Plinth present. However, so perhaps the winning bidder can fabricate a plinth with a mold from the remaining one? Or just use as-is. The andirons are a little over 17" tall. By about 21" deep and weigh about 12 lbs total. The are genuine antiques, with seamed construction and screw-on lemon tops. The double spurred legs are peened to the iron base. The remaining plinth is about 4 5/8" tall and the opening at the top is just over 1 1/8" in diameter. The set is totally unpolished and has a really old verdigris-surface. They are cast brass with a Federal urn top and finial. There is an elegant design fabricated on both the urn and upper shaft. Which tapers into a fluted column and square plinth. The pair sets on spurred arch legs and penny feet. They also have very decorative flame finial log stops. Each piece stands a statuesque 25 3/4" high by 12 1/2" wide at the feet, and 20 1/2" in length, and weigh 12 pounds each. These are a pair of lovely rusted Americana Fireplace Inserts. This pair weighs 20.4 pounds and they each measure 19 and 1/2" tall by 7 and 3/4" wide by 20" deep. These items will be taken apart by their thumb screws for shipping. These andirons do show some rust and wear present however there are no breaks or repairs present. They appear to be made from cast iron however I am uncertain of the exact type of metal that they are made from. There is NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING PERMITTED ON THIS ITEM. We took these out of our 1800's home fireplace when we had to rebuild the fireplace box. It looks more Victorian. Than from an old farm house but this family we purchased from rarely purchased new so I have no idea. I guess we never put them back, or someone packed them in our stuff when we moved. Our new home has a gas fireplace and they are to tall to use. They stand approx 18 1/4" tall. 6 1/2" at the widest point across the front, and 7 1/2" deep.
