Up for auction is an wonderful antique cast iron Gothic Revival fireplace insert from the 1800's. Fireplace insert came from a house located in one of many historic areas in the Cincinnati. OH area. Fireplace front measures approx 30 1/2" x 24 3/4" Rear insert sections measures approx 27 1/2" x 21" Fireplace is in very good condition showing the expected signs of wear for an item of its age. Cast iron was lightly cleaned and the asbestos was removed from the interior and properly disposed of. Five of the screws/bolts holding the front cast iron sections are not original to the piece. This set is from an old building on main street in Batesville Arkansas which is the oldest city in Arkansas dating back to the 1800's. It is rusty. One of the rods that holds the logs is bent and a small piece(a square that hold the log in place) is missing, one of the bottom scrolls has rusted off at the bottom of one of the andirons. It is from early 1900's and is beautifully footed with large circular feet. the fencing is swirled iron with ball top finials. the corner bars are the largest and tallest parts which have ribbed balls and large finials. there are two center pieces which have two thick iron circular pieces. This folk art piece combines Griffin or Dragon Andirons with a fireplace grate and decorative front grate piece. The lower decorative front grate, and the smaller metal grate that inserts into the larger piece which holds the logs and tips to dump the ashes and cinders. 2 ANTIQUE ANDIRONS Here is an interesting pair of andirons. They appear to be brass. At least the center posts do as you can see the brass under the patena and rust. The bottom leg area is showing some silver metal, too heavy and thick for aluminum, I would think. They are heavy, each weighing 11 pounds. They are rusty and may have been painted at some point. Within the patina are colors of red/pink, browns, gold and silver. The metal is thick. The back braces are cool looking. They measure 19.75" in height and 10" front to back. The back of each upright is marked A1 and a symbol I can't make out. The back bars/braces are marked D4. I would say these are very old. From the 1800's although they could be from 1900's. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Antique, salvaged piece. This was once a piece of a large cabinet, but could easily be used in a variety of areas. It would make a fantastic fireplace mantel, window valance, pediment, etc. This is solid walnut wood with inlay veneer and exceptional, carved accents. There are 2 large corbels with deeply curved and carved side profiles. Each has a carved North Wind or Devil face with fantastic detailing such as acanthus leaves that surround the faces. The end sections of the unit feature squared columns with incised diamond pattern. Very nice carved acanthus scrolls support each column and provide nice end accents. The inlay wood sections are raised panels. The lower section retains the finish base cap molding trim which is substantial in size. The back of the unit is in original condition with the original ... morenails/screws in place. The top has 3 peg holes where a shelf had once been attached. The unit is in very good, antique condition. There are a few, very minor scuffs which are not distracting and can be resolved. There is one split down the side that will need to be filled but it has not affected the structural integrity of the unit(see picture 5) This is simply exceptional and beautiful! The unit measures 51" long. 10.5" tall and extends 9.5" from the wall at the corbel section. The corbels are 10.5" tall. They are 2.25" wide at the top sections and 3.75" wide at the bottom with the trim included. They are 8.75" deep(front to back) at the face sections. This came from a remodel I did to an old house in Salem Ma. It was in the center of mantle. It had an awesome pattern of soot under it that gave it such a unique look. This is a ceramic or porcelain. This is a stunning pair of gothic cast iron fireplace andirons. They have a great patina from age and are made from very thick heavy iron. They have a stylized design and finial. On inside is imprinted: BURR CHROMIUM 100" which I believe describes metal that was initially used(1910-1920) to label the iron/steel mixture that helped to prevent corrosion. The back legs are also made from cast iron. This is a vintage Gothic style cast iron fireplace insert that doesn't seem to have ever been used with a fire. It measures aprox. 17 1/2" wide across the front. 14 1/2" across the back x 9" deep x 10 1/2" high on the back and 9 1/2" high on front. The bottom grate lifts out for cleaning purposes. Other than some surface rust it is in good condition, no breaks. It is available for pickup or can be delivered by Fed Ex ground for 22.80 including insurance. Antique Gothic Cast Iron Fireplace Andirons - Early 1900's
These beautiful cast iron andirons each measure 19.5" in height by 11" wide on each base. And are about 19.5" deep. They came with a home that was purchased by my friends parents in the 1920's, but the house was built earlier than the 1920's, so these would date to at least the early 1900's if not earlier. They do come unattached as you see in the final image. I do not have the bolts to reattach them, but this is an easy fix and will be much easier for shipment. The andirons are black in color with scuff marks from years of use. They could be re-painted, but I like to leave my items as found. Aside from the missing screws, they are in wonderful condition.

We bought these in the late 1960’s and used them for a few years in the fireplace before putting in a wood stove. They have been stored in the garage since the early 1970’s. Hello. You are viewing my auction for a Vintage Medieval Gothic Fireplace Tool Set. This set appears to be made from some type of Cast Iron or Steel Metal. I am unsure of the exact material. A magnet will stick to all of the pieces including the holder. This is a 5 piece set plus the holder. All of the pieces have a braided handle. The five pieces are the bellow, tongs, brush, shovel scoop, and pick. The body of this holder is all one piece meaning that there are no bolts or nuts holding it together. The holder section measures 10 and 1/4" wide at the top by 9" across at the bottom. The entire set with all of the pieces weighs 17.4 pounds. This item does have some minor wear present however there are no breaks, bends, or repairs present. The brush is slightly loose from the handle. Original pair of Peerless fireplace andirons in very good condition all parts are numbered. I am not sure if they were painted that color or maybe they are brass plated. Either way, just a great finish with an old Gothic look. These Peerless andirons are approximately 18" tall and 10" wide at the front feet with 19" total depth.I will dismantle these for shipping.
