A massive and fine pair of ANTIQUE brass fireplace andirons. Blacksmith-forged wood supports are original. The log stops. Feet, and secondary supports are all brass, just discolored from use. The only parts that are not brass are the horizontal log supports. This is an early pair. I have added a photo of the underside so that you can see that the tops are connected by a rod through the log stop and base. You will note that the rod bottom is peened or flattened with a hammer. This is a true indicator of age. Later 19th century andirons will have a rod that extends through the base with threads on the end. Secured by a nut. An exceptional pair. Unmarked, as best I can tell, and certainly worthy of further research. This pair is massive. And extremely heavy. Each stands 16 3/4" tall and 21" deep. The feet are 10 1/2" wide. Sold just as-found. Uncleaned and unpolished, with original warm patina. The smooth surface is as good as I have seen. This set displays beautifully. With expected wear, surface scratches, and minor dings, but no repairs. One has a short split on the BACKSIDE, as seen in bottom photo, but this is not visible from the front. The other andiron is missing it's secondary brass foot. I am not an expert on antique brass, so please view photos for exact condition. These are easily disassembled. 1919 Solid Brass Cannonball Andirions Queen Anne Style!
I have a very nice pair of brass cannonball 1919 andirons for your consideration. These are marked 1919 on the cast iron. They are both marked with numbers on each. The right one says 1340 the left one 3404. There is a makers mark in a circle. But I cannot make it out. They might be Virginia Metal Crafters. They have Queen Anne style legs. 17 1/2" H X 8" W 3" H x 12" long cast iron fire dogs. There are a few dings and scratches. To be expected in something of this age, but not that bad. There is a small separation on one seam where one of the andirons connects to the wrought iron, but it doesn't even seem noticeable, and is very insignificant, as it doesn't affect the usage or appearance. It isn't loose on the connection at all. So all this being said. And we know they are old numbered& marked with a makers ... moremark who would like to be the lucky recipient of these great andirons? Antique Victorian Cannonball Brass Andirons with No Makers Mark Here is a nice pair of ball andirons for your decorating needs. This certainly is an older pair and they certainly have been used over the years. Recently picked them up at an auction. Very nice detailing on the front brass components. See how they are turned with the lines engraved in them. The andirons have definitely been used over the years. But still show well. The front part is brass. The part the logs lay on is some sort of cast metal. The andirons will be partially disassembled to allow safe shipping to you, so expect to have to put them together again. I do not see any makers mark on these pieces. There is some sort of name on the bottom of the leg brace on one of the pieces. But cannot make out what it says. The andirons have definitely been used over the years and are vintage if not antique. These are solid pieces, not some cast hollowed piece, so they are quite heavy. Up for your consideration is a set of primitive hand-turned brass cannonball andirons. Measurements are 14" tall x 7 3/4" with a 19 1/2" footprint. Hardware and stampings date this item to be antique. 1792 is stamped several places. Please see photos. This item is quite heavy. They weigh 8 lbs. each. With an individual cannonball weighing 3 lbs. Harvin Brass Colonial Williamsburg Cannonball Andirons
Set of brass cannonball andirons manufactured by The Harvin Co. It is my understanding that Harvin made these for Virginia Metalcrafters and Colonial Williamsburg and are a reproduction of an 18th century design called Hampton. Andirons do show signs of use as there are some scratches and discoloration. Especially on the back closest to the cast iron legs. Overall they are in good condition and look beautiful. Each brass part measures 18.5" tall, 12.5" wide, and 8.5" deep. Cast iron portion that holds the logs extends another 13.5" Marked"The Harvin Co. on the bottom.

This pair stands 20" tall and has a great aged patina to the metal that only time and heat can produce. Often called a cannonball this design tapers at the top and comes to a large ball. A bit on the rarer side this design is not often found.
