19th Century American Federal New York Mahogany Overmantel Mirror Beautiful Rare
Description American Federal Period New York Mahogany three panel overmantle mirror with a wooden spread eagle and garlands with gilded leafs would be a great addition to your home. Circa 1820. And originating in New York this mirror is fresh to the market. This mirror was purchased in 1984 from a antique store in Philadelphia as were numerous other pieces that this client is going to consign to us. This beautiful mirror with beautiful water gilding that has been used to cover the eagle and the decorative foilage has a melted appearance to it. The eagle is carved of wood and with a layer of gezo and the water gild applied as the finish. The primary wood of this mirror is mahogany with pine as the secondary. This mirror does retain the oirignal mirror. This American Federal mirror measures 59" in width. 39 1/2" in height. The eagle ... moremeasures 23" in width, 11" in height on the plinth. Condition The overall condition of this mirror is excellent. There are losses to the water gild. On the lower right corner of the mirror there is about 3/4" of the molding missing(see picture) The overall condition of the eagle is. 8 1/2 out of 10. There is shrinkage to the gesso on the back of the eagle as well as on the garland and leaves. The back of the mirror is pristine with the original panels with great oxidation. Beautiful late 1800s British Victorian mahogany dresser top vanity mirror. Made of mahogany veneers. Solid mahogany and pine secondary woods. The piece has two pull-out drawers and a center storage area with lid. Overall measurement is 25 1/4" wide x 31 1/2" tall x 12 3/4" deep. Finish is in very good condition. Brought back from England in the early 1970s. Weight is 23 lbs. MIRROR: Swivels on two brass hinges which can be opened to remove mirror. Mirror can be accessed by removing wood panel on back. Which is held in place by simple brass turn latches. The thick mirrored glass is in very good condition with just a few very small discolored spots(photo was edited to remove reflected items) Solid carved mahogany posts hold mirror in place and are fastened using a wood nut and bolt(hand-tightened) These can be accessed by removing ... morethe two drawers. This ca. 1825-1845 solid mahogany tabernacle mirror features antique gilt accents. Ring turned half columns, and numerous acorn pendant finials. It measures 38 ¾” x 17 ¼” overall; 8 ¾” x 12 7/8” upper pane; 21 ¾” x 13” mirror. The varnished surface is absolutely original; some of the gilding has been over painted in the past. The mirror pane has very bad silver in the bottom quadrant and is missing a base block/plinth. The turned half column base has come off but is present. It retains the original chamfered thin pine back and double brass knob hanging array. Its upper pane houses an original 1860/70s original Currier and Ives hand colored lithograph, A View On The Hudson” that replaces the earlier reverse painting. The mirror measures 17 1/2" x 23" The first frame is a Cherry-Mahogany wood with 2 black lacquered accents and the second wood frame is a gold gild. The beautiful solid wood framed mirror is in excellent condition and so much prettier than pictured. No cracks or damage to the wood and no discoloration to the mirror. It is in absolutely fantastic 100% original condition. The mirror is period flat looking glass; there are four applied circular cut decorations at corners. The top apron has the same applied decoration and also two turned finials. The comb holder has gorgeous cut clover leaves. It is from upstate New York estate. In fantastic excellent condition.
