Leaf and floral handle and an open end with finial for hanging. The porcelain depicts what we believe is Hestia the Greek Goddess guardian of fire with two attendants. You see these come up once in awhile, but almost always the porcelain is broken, here it is in perfect condition. It measures approx. 16" tall and 7" across. We found this on the goddess gift site on the internet: Hestia. Greek Goddess of the sacred fire, was once known as"Chief of the Goddesses" and"Hestia, First and Last" She was the most influential and widely revered of the Greek goddesses. Though the goddess Hestia was once the most important of the Greek goddesses. She(like her counterpart, the Roman goddess Vesta) is virtually unknown today. Antique Federal Brass/Bronze Mirror
This is an outstanding brass/bronze federal period mirror in original(as found) condition. The mirror has many interesting parts. At the top is an American Eagle perched on an oval(1.5" by 2" containing what appear to be the remnants of a heraldic crest. Under the crest is a larger oval 8.5” by 6.75" mirror also in original untouched condition. At the bottom of the mirror is a thirteen star shield representing the 13 original colonies. The back of the shield reads“Design Patented Nov. 25 1862” In total. The mirror measures 19" by 11.5” and weighs about 7.5 pounds. Please look closely at the photos as they tell the story, but if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me. It would be very simple to polish this mirror with Brasso and have it looking shiny and new, but many people value the old patina so I have changed ... morenothing. This mirror has no breaks, flaws, repairs, replacements or damage of any kind. It has a beautifully aged surface. Description A FINE ANTIQUE FRENCH CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL& BRONZE OVAL TABLE MIRROR. Dating from the late Nineteenth Century Standing on an easel-back strut. It measures 12" x 7.5" It also has an original hanging ring to the rear if you wish to the utilise it as a hanging wall mirror. For it's size. It is quite heavy ~ weighing 1.5kgs The frame has beautiful Champleve enamel decoration on a French blue ground. And is finished with elaborate ribboned floral decoration to the top and bottom. I think the frame and decoration is made from bronze, possibly originally gilted. The frame and all the embellishments are in very good condition, with no damages. The original mercury mirrored glass is bevelled ~ there is some age consistent tarnishing( see close up photgraphs) A very beautiful and fine quality antique French mirror that would ... moregrace any Period side table or dressing table or alternatively could be wall hung. This Antique Victorian Era Bronze mirrored Sconce is in beautiful condition. It features a head of Bacchus or Dionysus. The God of Wine with georgeous reticulated grape vine design through out. The very nice solid cast bronze frame has a nice finish and I have not attempted to polish or clean it. That I will leave to the buyer. The mirror is in wonderful condition for it's age( over 100 years old) There is a slight clouding at the corners. It is 16" tall by 9" wide. I think that the three candle holder arms could be removed. Screws on the back(see photo) if desired. The detail is fabulous and they are a real statement piece. The frames are in exceptional condition with very little in the way of wear. The mirrors are however replacements and in our opinion haven't been fitted particularly well with only a silicon fixing. The mirrors could be easily replaced if required. Antique Oval Small Mirror Frame Bronze Brass? Very Heavy, Ornate, Foundry Mark
This is a very old and very heavy frame. Probably made in the late Victorian era at the end of the 19th century, or the very early 20th century. It is marked on the back 217 and in another place it looks like NB+NY- not sure about this mark, the second part is hard read. Might be NV or even IW. I believe it is bronze or brass. I have seen this frame in a larger version many times in cast iron, and those are heavy, but this one is REALLY heavy. You may have seen frames like this that are usually a foot tall or more. This is a little guy. Only 9" tall and 8" across. The frame has been fitted with a mirror which is newer. There are 3 little tabs that more easily on the back. And you could replace the mirror with glass and use it as a picture frame if you wanted. I think this frame probably had an easel-back at one time so that you ... morecould use it on a table. That has not survived the last 125 years or so. This is suitable for hanging with 2 small screws that would hold each curved piece at the top. This is great for any place you want to add a little reflection, especially nice in a grouping of mirrors. Glass measures 36.5" tall and 26.5" wide. Patina is old and appears original, with some oxidation visible in spots. There is a dent to the sphere at the top, and signs of restorations near the top and bottom. It dates from the late 19th to very early 20th century, possibly by E.F. Caldwell. Antique French bronze mirror with easel stand
Found in France. This lovely mirror is a study in aesthetic design. The frame is a simple oval. With around it a twisted rope motif and around that a continuous cord that is wound around the piece in graceful swirls, embellished with bronze flower decorations. The actual mirror is original to the piece and has a beautiful bevel with small“teeth” ground into the bevel. It dates to the last quarter of the 19 th century. The piece is in remarkable condition: there are some scratches to the glass and one of the small clips that holds the mirror backing in place is loose. No other flaws.
