Early European Pontiled Applied Handle Milk Cream Pitcher Hand Blown Green Glass
Gently used super old green glass pitcher or cruet with applied handle and pontiled bottom. Measures approx. 4 1/2" tall. 3" round at base, and 2" round at top. Weighs 7.8 ounces. I am selling this as a very old glass item that has been in my family for over 45 years as I could not find any other examples online. I did email a friend who sent my pictures to a friend of his who has some knowledge on vintage glass. Below is his reply but again I am selling this a old original glass item. Email reads- H ave studied the pictures and have the following observations to share. First off. I don't think this is a cruet. I would sooner describe it as a small pitcher, probably milk or cream. Cruets tend to have longer skinnier necks. Further I don't believe it was a US manufactured crackle glass item that was commonly made from ... morethe 30's to the late 60's or so. It's too crude and the glass is too thick to be a commercially made piece by the likes of Pilgrim or Rainbows, the most common manufactures of crackle glass during the afore mentioned period. And the pontil is pretty crude also as is the shape of the applied handle. Most commercial crackle glass was much thinner glass and more artfully rendered shapes on the necks, lips and handles. So my guess is that it's probably mid 18th to early 19th century European made in a small guild shop by an apprentice glass blower. The creamer was manufactured by the Boston& Sandwich Glass Company and it is in the Bellflower pattern. The creamer features a vertical ribbed pattern with bellflowers. An applied handle, a paneled stem, and a rayed base with cicular foot. This is also the more rare of the two creamers that has the pattern to the end of the lip. Old UNIQUE Tankard Syrup Pitcher Cream pitcher milk pitcher ??? with glass lid
From an estate. This is a wonderful old(whatsit! that may be a syrup pitcher, a cream/milk pitcher, or a tankard. I have NOT seen any lid attached like this before, and could not find anything even similar on the internet or in any of my glass books. It is about 6 1/4" tall and base is about 3 3/4" in diameter. The base is"pushed up" from the bottom about 1" and is slightly flared at the base. The lid lifts off. It rests on a round bar at the back of the pitcher and has a round indent in the back of the lid that fits down onto the bar. It has a LOT OF WEAR TO THE BASE rim which tells me this is an old piece. It has a few scratches(see photo of largest) And I see a bubble in the glass; there are a few tiny flakes off the finger-hold that is on the lid. Overall it is in good condition for its age. Early Hand Blown Flint Glass Cream Pitcher PITTSBURGH ?
Measures approx. 3-1/2" high. Appears to have been blown in two separate pieces-the body and the base-and joined while still hot. Later. The handle was applied. Of medium weight clear flint glass with a few tiny bubbles, at least one whitish inclusion, wavy striations, a broken pontil mark, and a nice tinkly"flinty" ring when tapped. There are faint traces of a whitish residue inside, but NO other damage or problems. A good early one, probably 1820's-1840's. I will combine shipping whenever possible, and normally will ship worldwide within one day of eceiving payment. R.I. residents must add 7% sales tax. We have a very rare piece of Heisey glass here. This cream pitcher#341 Puritan Tankard stands 7 1/2" to the top of the glass rim and 9" to the top of the thumb actuator. And the base measures 4 1/8" across. I have never seen this pitcher here on e bay or anywhere else! It is in perfect shape with no chips or cracks. Does have some very light scratches, and I must say very, very light. I cant even feel them with my finger, but I thought I should mention it. The hinge is nice and tight and where it attaches to the handle has a little play but I believe it is how it should be about 1/32" of an inch play I would say. You usually see the pewter lid attached to the rim of the piece, in this case it is attached to the handle, not often seen at all! Most of the time the lids are of silver plate, I believe the pewter looks much ... morebetter. Has the correct H in diamond mark on the bottom. Some years ago, an old timer at a antique glass show said it could be a custom or prototype piece, he said he has never seen a Heisey piece like that with that lid. So take that as you like. Lovely 2-piece antique farmer's kitchen table reeded-glass creamer with a metal flip-top lid which has a spring hinge at back. Has a primitive soldered strap-handle which is very crude and rustic-and is antique with slight rust on surfaces adding to its age& charm, is fully functionally and operational as you manually depress the spring-loaded lever at back to open top(see pic of opening lid with interior metal spout intact and not bent-spring is original-working& articulating properly-and intact(see pic close-up provided) no holes, no cracks and no chips to metal strap handle-or lid-or glass vessel, has some very small expected tiny flea bites at reeded edges of glass only which are VERY small, needs ... moremild cleaning, measures approx. 6.75" tall x 3.75" wide. Additionally. There is an"Ownes-Illinois Glass Company" marked under base) antique reeded-glass salt shaker circa 1930s, with a metal twist-on lid, lid twist on properly and fits properly, lid is perforated with small holes for salt shaking(see pics) metal lid has wear and and small rust spots-no cracks or chips to lid, the reeded-glass vessel has a portion of a salts label at front which has evident loss to label(see pic) the reeded-glass vessel is in very good condition(both pieces have no repairs) both pieces of glass are thickly walled glass, this salt vessel has no chips and no cracks. It measures approx. 4.25" tall x 2.75" wide. It is marked/embossed with the Owens-Illinois Glass Company logo and markings underneath.
