VINTAGE AND RARE MARY GREGORY GREEN HAND-BLOWN GLASS PITCHER
I am excited to offer this beautiful. Very early Made Mary Gregory Pitcher. It is hand blown and hand painted. The style of the painting and the colored green glass is known as the earlier European style of Mary Gregory glass. The pitcher is 10" high and 3 1/4 in wide on the top with the base about 5 in. width. There are no chips or cracks that I can find. There is however, a mark across the bottom that looks like a crack but I believe it is the pontil trailing off the center where the blown glass ended. I can feel no crack inside or out. The Mary Gregory style white ename led painting is of a de er with full rack in a meadow surrounded by trees. Very nicely and realistically do ne. The coloring is a light see-through marigold amber glass that its also ir idescent. Measurements: 12.25" high 6.25" wide from outside edge of handle to oppos ite e d ge 3.25" opening diameter 4.25" base diameter approx. 5" at its mi d-section's wide st width Th is pitcher is in very good to excel lent condition considering its age. You are looking at a fabulous Mary Gregory ruffled rim pitcher set-absolutely lovely to look at. The clear pitcher stands 9 1/2 inches high with a lovely ruffled rim. Clear glass and a beautiful young woman picking an iconic Mary Gregory flower. The painting is in great shape with no scratches or dings in the paint. The only flaw in this piece is a chip on one of the ruffles on the rim-I showed in the picture-I did not even notice it right away-does not detract from this piece at all. The set comes with four matching glasses-a really nice set overall. Three of the glasses have a lovely lass on them similar to the young lady on the pitcher. The last glass has a young man in the same style as the other glasses and pitcher. I am not an expert on Mary Gregory-but these look to be quite vintage/antique by the looks of the glass. It stands 9" tall. Typical for a pitcherof long ago era. This pitcher has a unique finish to it. You have the white enamelled paint and also the outfits on the children and the flowers are finished with pinkish coralene paint. I believe that is paint with the tiniest specks of glass in it. It feels like a slightly rough sandy texture when running your fingers over it. Some of the gilt gold paint on the rim has faded. There is apontil on the bottom. There is a manufacturing flaw on the handle. It is not a crack. But a slightly raised straw mark. You can also see some bubbles in the glass. 1880's antique Victorian mary Gregory Water Pitcher and Tumbler
I am selling a 40 year collection of antiques.All items are guaranteed antique and as described.Please check out my other auctions for more fine antiques. Being offered in this auction is an authentic 19th century Mary Gregory pitcher and tumbler. This beautiful clear glass pitcher has a very delicate white enamled picture of a small girl gathering flowers in the woods. The painting is quite large and covers the entire front of the pitcher. The detail is very pleasing and includes her tiny eye, mouth, drapery swags in her dress and very fine raised lines depicting all other details dress trim, strands of hair, and even the tops of her kneehigh stockings! You dont see fine details like this in the reproduction junk comming out of china. Once you have seen the original antique Mary Gregory you can appreciate the beautiful delicate painting ... morethat is found only on the old. The pitcher and matching tumbler are hand blown from very very thin clear glass and the glass blowers rouigh pontil mark is at the bottom of the pitcher the tumbler pontil has been annealed to prevent cuts during handling. The painting on the tumbler is of a little boy and the painting is just as delicate as that found on the pitcher. The applied glass ribbed handle is beautifully formed and hand blown and applied. The crimped upper edge forming the spout of the pitcher were also formed by the glass blower and is very thin and delicate. The glass in this pitcher is paper thin and the pitcher is very light weight. There is no cloudiness to the glass pitcher or tumbler and both are very clear and bright. There are no chips cracks or repairs to this beautiful pitcher and tumbler the painted enameled decoration has no wear or scratches and is in perfect condition. This item dates from the 1880s and is 9 1/2 inches tall the base is 3 3/4 inches in diameter the body is approx 8 inches across handle to spout. The tumbler is 4 inches tall by 2 1/2 in diameter. Although I do not know the year it was made but it looks old with some bubbles in the glass. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. The design is not worn off at all. There are no markings on it but the bottom has a round indent. This forest green mother of pearl pitcher is 6 ½ inches tall and 4 ½ inches across including the handle. The pitcher is nicely decorated with a cherub or angel among floral decoration. Antique Victorian Mary Gregory Amber Glass Pitcher Set with 5 Tumblers The hand-blown pitcher in this beautiful antique amber glass lemonade or water set measures 9-1/2" high by 7" spout-across handle. With a tightly crimped rim and smooth applied handle. The tall. Slender body is flared at both the base and top. The blown glass has optic ribbing and an indented. Partly polished pontil area. The tumblers are 3-3/4" tall. Also with optic ribbing and have slightly tapered sides. The painting on this set is most unusual. Instead of the usual depictions of children. Usually young girls, the pieces are decorated with little European castle scenes in shades of terra cotta, cream and white, with raised white enamel accents. Victorian blown glass Mary Gregory 9" pitcher and 4 tumblers measuring 3 5/8" tall. Beautiful early glass pieces in really great shape for their age. The pitcher has an enclosed bubble at the top near the handle- see photos. A tiny rough spot on the rim and a little gold wear but no damage. Has a rough pontil on the bottom that doesn't come through to the inside even though it looks cracked in the photo. A couple of tiny flea bites on the rims of the tumblers that can easily be polished out and a little wear to the paint on one of the glasses. This auction is for a beautiful early clear glass pitcher in the Mary Gregory style. It is a tall. Heavy pitcher with a multi-layered white enamel bucolic scene on clear glass. The young lady wears a diaphanous layered dress trimmed in lace and she is surrounded by trees and birds. There are 16 inner ribs that seem to swirl from top to bottom and an applied smooth handle. The bottom features a rough pontil, but no other discernible markings. I can not date the piece, but it has the feel of older glass in terms of weight and thickness. It is 14" tall to the top of the spout and 6" in diameter at the bottom where it forms a teadrop. It is a very substantial piece. It is truly a beautiful piece in excellent condition with no chips. Vintage Mary Gregory style painted glass pitcher. The painting is of a young couple dressed in period white garb with acanthus leaf like flourishes. The faces are flesh colored with detailed features. The leaves have colored detail as well. Perhaps the scene is of a courtship or wedding. I'm not certain. I have no idea the age or actual maker of this piece. It came from an estate southwest of DFW with the majority of items sold dating from the 1930s-1960s. The glass appears to be clear with many small bubble inclusions. The pitcher weights approx 1.8 lbs. Dimensions are: approximately 9" x 6" L including the handle. Bottom is approx. 4 3/4" Dia. The top edge has gold trim and some of that is a little wore and there are a couple of tiny rough spots or very tiny nicks on an area of the top edge that is really only found by touch.
